Murals Along Narrow Roads in the Next Town

in StreetArt7 months ago

Hello, everyone!

It's been a long while since I last shared street art and I'm glad to have something today.

Earlier in the day, we drove to the other town for a quick visit and to meet someone we had an appointment with. It's almost a year since we had been there so we were surprised to see the beautification efforts along the village roads, especially the murals and artwork.

They are hard to miss because they are large, bright, and quite colorful. Even my father-in-law who came with us commented on how pleasing they were. The roads are narrow (single-lane) so these photographs were captured mostly at close range.

Vegetable farming is one of the main livelihoods of people here and the artist/s (we have no idea who did these murals) tried to depict that (with some twists) in the artwork.

A fit indigenous man in ethnic costumes (G-string and bandana which according to history were used by generations centuries ago) carrying a huge cabbage and the other guy with a super large potato. Papa laughed at seeing their toenails painted saying there was no nail polish back in the day. Well... that is why I said the artwork had some twists, lol! They are a mix of the old and modern.

Anyway, these were seen on the concrete fences along the residential areas. It was drizzling but I am glad it isn't obvious in the photos. They were photographed on our way home.

These two mighty women look nice in their boots, hehe! One is looking rather unhappy with a huge pepper (or is it squash?) on her head while the other seemed pleased with her carrot, lol!

The photos below on the other hand were on the retaining walls along the farms. I just snapped them in the morning while the car was running. We were rushing to meet someone and didn't want him to be waiting so there was no time to stop or pull over.

We thought to take better photos in the afternoon, unfortunately, the rain poured around 2 pm so we had no chance to do that. I was just thankful I got a few shots earlier in the day.

The long retaining wall was covered in colors - blue, green, pink and what else. Other parts haven't been painted yet. Perhaps we will be seeing more on our next visit. I'll make sure to capture them too.

We heard that each village in that town is beautifying its vicinity and there are prizes to be won by whoever is the most creative among them. It is pretty interesting how their local government encourages them to liven up their environment through certain initiatives.

And this is it from me today, thank you and Happy Thursday, frens!

Your descriptions made me feel like I was there with you, enjoying the colorful artwork. I absolutely loved reading this, The murals sound incredible, and it’s great to see how the local community is being encouraged to beautify their surroundings. Your father-in-law’s comment about the toenail polish made me smile. Can’t wait to see more on your next visit.

I'm glad you feel that way. Thank you. Hope to see more next time.

See there's graffiti, which is balancing the line between vandalism and art, and then there's this, which is just art. Why can't our graffiti be replaced with actual cute art like this! It's so wholesome and connected to the community

It's amazing how art transforms empty spaces :) There are very few graffiti around here, mostly cute art😊

Beautiful walls. It's great to see the government encouraging this practice to beautify villages. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.

Have a great day

Yes, it's a great initiative. Thank you too for having this awesome space :)

I should be thanking you, it's great to have active members who share the StreetArt of their region. Have a great weekend

Hope to find more artwork to share.

It's a rainy weekend but yes, it's going to be awesome. Thank you.

Those are beautiful arts, the authority there has a good way of embracing fun activities with his people, asides from the price to be won, it shows sense of belongings as people come together and shows their creativity, I guess the reason why the artist add a color to the nails of the two men with bag of Gabbage and potato was because, their nails wouldn't show at all, if he was to let it be like that, so for him to better beautified his work he has to add some color to show their nails.

It makes sense what you said about the toenails haha. Having them colored like they had nail polish makes them visible.

I laughed too about the toenails. 😁 Nice initiative sa local government promoting farming with art.😊

Haha yep. Red pa talaga yung kulay😄

Hahaha, babae siguro ang nag-mural niyan.😅

So beautiful artworks. Each art seems to convey some message. I liked the toenail part that you mentioned. These art work looks catchy. Sure should appreciate the government to keep the people engaged by giving an opportunity to display their potential.

They are simple yet send messages to whoever sees them. And yes, it's a nice initiative by the government.
