For the CCC's Street Art Contest #218 organised by @digi-me, this is a restoration of a mural done during the 2014 Mural Festival by Scan and Axe. Unfortunately in 2017, Scan left us and since then the colours have been less vivid, some of the paint was starting to come off... So for this year's festival they decided to give the mural a facelift, again by Axe but this time accompanied by Zek One.
Pour le CCC's Street Art Contest #218 organisé par @digi-me, il s'agit d'une restoration d'une murale faite lors de l'édition 2014 du Mural Festival par Scan et Axe. Malheureusement en 2017, Scan nous a quitté et depuis les couleurs étaient moins vives, quelques bouts de peinture commençaient à se détacher... Il a été donc décidé pour cette édition du festival de donner un coup de jeune à cette murale toujours par Axe accompagné par Zek One.

On the corner of boulevard Saint Laurent and Saint-Cuthbert street in Montreal. The mural is on a Pawnshop with Graffiti Alley just behind. This part of Montreal is ideal for any StreetArt enthusiast.
Au coin du boulevard Saint Laurent et de la rue Saint-Cuthbert Montréal. La murale se trouve sur un Pawnshop avec la Graffiti Alley juste en arrière. Ce coin de Montréal est idéal pour tout amateur de StreetArt.

Axe & Zek One
I find this initiative really interesting. This wall richly deserved this restoration, especially after the untimely death of Scan, a Montreal StreetArt legend. Not far away, during the 2024 edition of the Mural Festival, 54 artists put their blaze on a wall in his honour.
Je trouve cette initiative vraiment intéressante. Ce mur méritait largement cette restoration surtout après la disparition trop de jeune de Scan, une légende du StreetArt à Montréal. Pas très loin, lors de l'édition 2024 du Mural Festival, 54 artistes ont déposé leur blaze sur un mur en son honneur :
Stunning work by the two artists Axe accompanied by Zek One, both based in Montreal and pillars of the StreetArt scene. A lot of years of experience and it shows in this mural. I really like the addition of small details without changing the original, the two Mr Can Do, the Scan mark on the skeleton's shoulder or for the cufflink... I'll leave you to look for the other additions and differences 😀
Superbe travail des deux artistes Axe accompagné par Zek One, tous deux basés à Montréal et des piliers de la scène StreetArt. Beaucoup d'années d'expérience et cela se voit dans cette murale. J'aime beaucoup l'ajout de petits détails sans changer l'originale, les deux Mr Can Do, la marque de Scan sur l'épaule du squelette ou pour le bouton de manchette... Je vous laisse chercher les autres ajouts et différences 😀

I deeply sorry for the passing away of Scan and I must say the restored mural is a fitting tribute. The artists who handled the job did it well and it's a pleasant sight to behold. Even people who are not art fans might find themselves taking an extended look. My attention was especially caught by that of Christ rebuffing the devil. All beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
