Exploring Graffiti Alley in Toronto, Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

in StreetArt β€’ 4 days ago

My husband and I made another trip to Graffiti Alley recently. If you're unfamiliar, it's a very popular spot in Toronto where citizens are given free reign to make legal street art! πŸ‘ It's a great concept, and the best part about it is there is always something new the next time you visit! People are constantly adding, erasing, and recreating new pieces of art.

Before arriving, we took pictures of some other art along the way. For example, we saw this neighborhood generator that was all decked out and I fell in love 😍 -- literally! Apparently this was the work of "girl gang."

We came across this wonderful mural of cartoon characters. If you look closely, you'll be able to see such favorites as Shaggy, California raisin, and Stimpy.

This was in downtown Toronto, getting closer towards Graffiti Alley. Some lovely artwork done for a local business known as Big Trouble Pizza.

Koi fish are very symbolical for me. My fourth tattoo was inspired by the Avatar: The Last Airbender series. I love the sparkle effect around the fish, almost to make it look as though he were swimming through the universe...

By this point, we had officially reached Graffiti Alley. πŸ™ This was one of the first pieces that we came across; it is known as the Truth Phone. Obviously it does not work πŸ˜… but I suppose one could always pick up to see if they hear a message...

Here is another one that I love. It has been titled, Life's Exit.

This one was silly, but very captivating nonetheless! Tons of crazy, zany faces, each one different and unique. Which one is your favorite!? πŸ€ͺ

Some strange sidewalk art we came across... "Always remember the make and model of your father's car. I'm still not entirely sure what it means...

This one was a great realistic piece of rapper, MF Doom. To be fair, I have never bothered to listen to any of his music, but the similarity is uncanny! In fact, I think this mural is based off this exact photo, of him performing at the Grammys(?).

It was originally supposed to say "hump" but someone changed the sign to, "Watch for injustice."

Finally, the piece that I admired the most πŸ’— The quote reads,

"You don't have to be a man to fight for freedom. All you have to do is be an... intelligent human being."

Anyway, that is it for today's post! πŸ‘‹ Thank you so much for taking the time to check it out, and be sure to let me know which piece was your favorite in the comments πŸ™‚ Thanks so much everybody, enjoy the week!
