Frida Kahlo mural in Wynwood by Venezuelan artist EDO Ilustrado.

The city of Miami has a main art district named Wynwood, where many murals and graffiti arts decorate the streets. Renowned artists from all over the world have come to the city to leave a mark in the urban art district of Wynwood.

The Wynwood area has several galleries and art centers, and it has become a trendy spot for the city night life. For many artists it is an honor to be able to have a mural seen by hundreds of visitors every year.

Graffiti is a form of urban art that expresses in a colorful way a statement. In this opportunity the artist EDO created a fabulous mural with the portrait of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo on the main 36 St located in the northern limits of Wynwood. Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) was a well-known surreal artist from Mexico who represented a depiction of the female experience including the Mexican traditions in her artworks.

The mural of Frida was created with the artist style in vibrant colors, and the artist adds his personal touch by putting a cell phone in her hands. The cell phone on Frida plays with the metaphor of her as an influencer. Back then there were no cell phones and even without mobiles Frida was able to influence our culture with a rich legacy.

The artist EDO gracefully jokes in his mural with the number of likes that his graffiti has. This mural is a huge artistic effort on bringing Frida to this century, and it also recalls that there were influencer personalities without a cell phone.

EDO’s series the Influencers are a group of portraits of personalities who made a big impact in our culture or society. He has personalities from the sports field, art field, political and historical fields. It is sincerely a wonderful artistic effort to commemorate our real influencers.

If you like to see this mural, it is located at 151 NW 36 Street in Miami, it is the facade of the art center Miart Space. Take a selfie and send it to the artist. Show support to his effort in making beautiful urban art with strong content: hhttp://www.instagram.com/edoilustrado/
