Qutub Minar, it is one of the attractions of Delhi city. The architecture is lofty and lovely. In many histories said it was built as a victory pillar, a symbol of the beginning of Muslim rule in India.
The historic city of Delhi in India has some of the
architectural monuments of the lost days. One of these is the Qutub Minar. There
is controversy over the establishment of this minaret. One group said it was
built as a victory pillar, a symbol of the beginning of Muslim rule in India.
Some experts believe that it was built in memory of a Sufi saint named Khwaja
Qutbuddin. This minaret is considered as one of the best installations not only
in the Indian subcontinent but also in the world.
The construction of Qutub Minar was started by Qutbuddin
Aibak, the ruler of Delhi. But only the ground floor was built during his
tenure. His successor, Iltutmis, built several more floors. The fifth and last
floor was built by Feroz Shah Tughlaq. From Qutbuddin Aibak to Feroz Shah
Tughlaq, its architectural style bears the imprint of the time. Apart from
that, its construction method and materials used in the construction are also
different. The height of Qutub Minar is 236 feet. Its craftsmanship is
beautifully decorated. The calligraphy of the minaret is made of red sandstone
and contains various verses of the Qur'an.
My visit to Qutub Minar!
I visited this beautiful monument in 2018 with some of my colleagues.
It was winter morning and fog did not clear well. In early morning, we left our
hotel to visited the Qutub Minar. We reached our destination within half an
hour along the beautiful, clean roads of Delhi. We contracted with a travel
agency to guide us in our whole travel in Delhi. When I reached this Qutub
Minar which is about 800 years old, it still seems that the construction has
just been completed! The construction work was completed in 1236.
