Who doesn't like travelling? I think, it will be hardly found any young person who don’t do it. I like travelling so much that when I was a child, my father or others would take me somewhere to vent my anger or convince me. That habit is still with me.
I like to take my friends for a walk whenever I get a chance.. even in the name of private study, we sometimes leave the hostel and go for a short tour. How much more!
Planning a tour
A few days ago, I visited to a sudden tour to the Dhalghata, Matarbari at one end of Maheshkhali in Cox's Bazar District of Bangladesh. It was a family tour with my sister, brother in law and my nieces. Maheshkhali is the birthplace of my brother in law.
But now their village house is not left, broken away with the heavy waves of the sea water. They now live in Chakoria. Settled here. That's why we never went to Maheshkhali after the marriage of my sister and she had a cherished wish to have a tour there to see her in-law's-house.
Not only my sister, but also me have been telling my brother in law many times to arrange a tour to his native village, even pinched him calling homeless, as if he might feel guilty and arrange the tour... Lol.
Eventually the tricks worked. Brother in law have arranged a day long tour on a vacation to Matarbari at Maheshkhali. It was a great journey.
Finally we started..
The day started very earlier as we had to get waked very soon, even with the sun. After taking a short breakfast, we started our journey.
We left with a taxi cab. The weather was really nice on that day. The cool breeze is blowing that refreshed our mind. It enhanced our enjoyment more. It took about one and half hour from the house of my sister at Chokoria, Cox's Bazar.
When we reached, I found it a very remote area. I have heard many horrible stories about that area. There are usually people being killed in the daytime in the fight over the possession of the pirates. Yet the robbery began at midnight. How dangerous the area is.
Actually most of the littoral zone of Bangladesh are as same. Here it is as usual incident that people fight for the possession of coastal areas.
About the place..
Let have some idea about the area I visited. Geographically Bay of Bengal is to the west, the river named by Kohlia to the east, Kutubdia estuary to the north and the cyclone-ravaged area Dhalghata Union to the south. This is Matarbari Union, located in the middle.
The union currently has a population of about 30k only. It was one of the most densely populated area in Cox's Bazar district even a few days ago, but now the situation has been changed due to the Matarbari Coal-fired Power Plant Project.
This power plant is expected to account for about 10% of the total power generation capacity of Bangladesh. A deep-sea port facility named by Matarbari Port will be developed for importing the coal that will be consumed by the power plant. Government has acquired huge land and replaced many families with compansation payment. That's why the population density has been reduced.
Absolutely pure village. At the northern end, the villagers cultivate shrimp and salt. We went to see shrimp farms at the northern end of the union passing a sweet soil-made village road. There were mud or bamboo houses besides the road. The natural environment was really awesome.
I saw that the people of the village respected my brother in law very much. They used to call him Professor Saab. The people of the village took great care of us. We got up at the house of an aunt of my brother in law. They have entertained as much as possible. We drunk water of green coconut just getting from the tree. I was overwhelmed by their sincerity.
About the project..
The project area was really nice. Heavy air was blowing over and around us. I also enjoyed a lot of fish projects all over the place. I just like water. When we go to the water, it seems that our hearts are shaking like water. And that's the matter why I was wondered.
Happy Ending..
After passing a long time, we had to return back as we didn't plan to stay at night. Thus it was ended at evening an extraordinary experience.
