We are going to the border of three countries: the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria. And this is what makes the location of the castle complex unique. A few hours on the road and we arrive in the Czech Republic, in the village of Lednice. The same is the name of the castle located in this village. We park our car and go for a walk. I already feel that a walk through this complex will bring me unforgettable impressions.

It is worth starting with history. This castle is mentioned as far back as 1222. But then it was built only as a small fortress. The fortress was to guard the bridge over the river Die. For over 200 years, the castle was called Eissgrube. And in 1412 and to this day the castle was called Lednice. There is another Castle in this complex. It is called Valtice. In the 16th century, these castles were united. And now these castles are in this complex. Prior to the nationalization of this complex, the castle was owned by the Liechtenstein family. After World War II, Liechtenstein migrated, and now the castle is owned by the state.

Today, Lednice Castle is the largest park complex in all of Europe. It is so big that you will not see everything in one day. So be sure to wear comfortable shoes for the walk, and you can also bring a small provision to have a snack. If desired, if you are hungry, there is a restaurant on the castle grounds. On today's tour we see the castle in the neo-Gothic style. This is how it became after a major reconstruction in the 19th century. There are several routes, a palm greenhouse, fountains, a flower greenhouse, large gardens and even a stable. By the way, very often you can see horseback riding on the trails.

In the castle itself, you can walk three routes, which take about an hour. Here you will see the apartments of princes, children's rooms, ceremonial halls and much more. A very interesting location is the Milan Knizak Doll Museum.

Let's move on. Around the castle is a huge area of over 200 hectares. There are many different parks and gardens. If you wish, you can ride a horse or a bicycle. And if you walk to the river, then there is a summer tram waiting for you. The walk will be interesting in any case. Before your eyes will be a majestic French park, an elegant English garden. A huge and unique collection of trees can be seen in the landscape park. You will be interested in both the aqueduct and the temple of the Three Graces. and a Venetian fountain. Also, be sure to check out the hunting lodge and the Temple of Apollo.

Do not miss Valtice Castle. Wine cellars have been preserved in this castle and wine tastings are often held here. You can not only enjoy Moravian wines, but also buy a bottle of wine with you. Walks through the castle complex are absolutely free, but the entrance to the castle will cost depending on which route you choose.
