Stepping into Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu, I was immediately struck by the temple's lush surroundings. The path was lined with vibrant plants and flower gardens, setting a tranquil tone for the visit. As I descended the gentle stairs, I was greeted by statues of spirits and guardians, welcoming visitors and protecting the sacred space.
In the first yard I visited, there was a large meadow, which made the atmosphere of the temple even more expansive and peaceful.
The real highlight was the pool located near the middle of this yard. This pool, adorned with a statue of the goddess of knowledge, was surrounded by lush greenery. Visitors can buy fish food and feed the eager fish, creating a lively and engaging experience.
Continuing into the main yard, I encountered the Holy Spring pool, encased by an ornate Balinese architectural wall. This sacred spring is the heart of the temple, revered for its purifying properties. Nearby, two additional pools are used for cleansing ceremonies, conducted through traditional rituals. There's also a public bathing area, where locals can come to refresh themselves at the end of the day.
Finally, I explored the main shrines dedicated to both the Almighty God and local deities. This dual purpose of the temple highlights its spiritual significance to both the divine and local spirits.
After soaking in the serene atmosphere and rich traditions, I exited through the gate, leaving Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu with a deep sense of peace and reverence.
