We have driven past this place a number of times on our way further afield, usually for some hiking up mountains in the scenic rim mountain ranges but today we had enough time for a bit of an explore and a walk around.
Jubilee Park is about an easy hour drive south west of Brisbane.
This nice little bridge was closed because of the Flying Fox Colonies that has made it home amongst the trees. I am not sure whether they are being protected from us or us from them.
Scenic rim council have the best rubbish bins I have ever seen and the play grounds are not to bad either.
We have done a lots of hike up lots of mountains in this area and they were all worth a visit.
Lots of these place names and towns we visit are very English and European because of all the early settlements and developments but it is great to start seeing more of the traditional owner history and customs popping up all over the place. This park had a children's story book boards called "Jarjum Gurema" sign posted in all of the garden beds telling of the meaning of local Yugambeh greetings and totem animals of the Mununjali area. I find the Aboriginal art work pleasantly colourful to look at and usually has a story and meaning behind it.
The outlined shapes where all coloured in my local children. I think I can relate too and like old man kangaroo the best.
