Greece 1991

in TravelFeed11 days ago (edited)

Adding Greece to my world map. I am pretty sure it was the Greek Islands on the Contiki travel brochure way back in the 1990, that got me to fork out my hard earned cash on this bus tour I did way back in my younger years. England had been pretty cold after back packing through Asia and a bit of Africa. I was keen to let someone else do all the organising and I could cut loose and have a few drinks with out being on guard all the time in foreign places surrounded by strangers. The bus was good and I got to catch up on all the news from home as I had been traveling for months while all the other people on the tour had just flow in. It is amazing how all the technological changes have changed a lot of the old travelling experiences.

Athens was good, seeing all the old stuff, it is a shame I did not pay much attention to what the tour guide was telling us. At the time it was just too much like a history lesson from the school system I had only just escaped from.

I had my Egypt t-shirt on, that place is older than this right!

I should have felt a closer connection to this place but this backing pack trip was the only real time I was not running regularly. The corners on the first ever Olympic track were a lot tighter than I was expecting.

I had started a bit of a trend on the bus by photo bombing somebody's photo with my middle finger. I thought it was funny but they were quite upset and they pretty much threw there photo at me when they saw it. It took a while to get them printed in the old days. From then on everyone was trying to get there finger out every time a camera was out.

Corfu was pretty cool we only visited the one bigger island and a smaller one on a day trip. It would be great to return and check a few more out.

I visited Greece as a kid, didn't appreciate it at the time of course but looking back on all the family photos that were taken around the same locations, I wish I was older to appreciate it more.

You visited Athens, Greece when you were young, wow. It's a historical and beautiful place. Amazing photography.
