Continuing the journey, I began with my last posts; today's photo shows the Horseshoe Bend near Page, Arizona.
It's hard to believe that I took it nearly 16 years ago. Back then, this view was already popular, but nothing compared to now. I've seen that viewing platforms have been built, and railings are in place to discourage getting too close to the precipice. I don't know if you can still capture the view in my photo the same way. But even if not, just experiencing this immense canyon is something you should not miss if you are in the area.
I made the stop while traveling from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon toward Zion National Park. I didn't own a wide-angle lens and couldn't initially capture the whole bend in a single frame. Thankfully, another photographer lent me his lens, and I could include the entire scene in the frame.
It is also a prime spot to photograph at sunset since it's facing westward. If you want to spend some time in the area, you can add a tour of the Antelope Canony to your itinerary. I didn't do it because, even back then, it was expensive, and the typical tours would have been too restricting for proper landscape photography. But if you don't mind the crowds, I'm sure it's a fascinating landscape to explore.
