As you can see, they are grazing freely in the Basque mountains and spend their whole lives that way.
This breed of horse is native to the Basque Country and is used, fundamentally, for meat purposes; I have not tried the meat from these horses but the Basque people say that it's delicious
Although they're smaller than other horse breeds around the world, they're very strong and robust and not afraid of humans at all, which does not help towards being a little afraid of getting kicked when you have to go through the paths they feed on.
