Do you know that feeling when you stumble upon something so unique that you must tell everyone about it? Well, that's definitely me right now! You're my lucky reader! Let me introduce you to this breathtaking black sand beach that looks unique to other beaches.
Now, I know what you are thinking. You might probably wonder, "Black sand? Really?" Oh absolutely. This beach is a typical beach you might have encountered, and to give you a little trivia: Did you know that black sand helps exfoliate dull and dry skin? Well, now you know! If you are tired of devouring white beaches. Perhaps because it is too crowded, you cannot enjoy yourself and your family. Or, probably, you just wanted to try something new, something far away from the bustling city. Then this is the perfect beach for you.
Meet Black Sand Beach
You might raise your eyebrow to me right now and say: Really? A black sand beach? I thought the sand was just the only black; what about the sea itself? Hold on for a second; let me have a flashback to y'all.
My classmates and I planned a Christmas Outing because it would take us a while to see one another. It is also part of our section to have this tradition of doing something before the year ends. The group decided to go on a trip outside the town. Initially, the plan was to be in the swimming pool, but we realized it's too expensive for a student like us (lol, the trip should surely cost an arm and a leg). We then find alternatives that are budget-friendly, aesthetic, and Instagrammable. But of course, teenagers like us are fond of outdoor activities and games so we ensure that the place is spacious too!
➝➝FASTFORWARD➝➝
Everything is set. The foods, beverages, speakers, microphones, and even our outfits were securely planned (outfits are a must!). But one thing is surely not secured, and guess what it is? It's the weather! It rained heavily the night before our trip. I was like, hmmm "Que será, será".
We were unsurprised that the sea was murky as this was the expected outcome, especially since it rained heavily last night. But who cares about the murky, muddy sea when the place has an impressive panorama?
HOW TO GET THERE?
But If you feel dizzy from a long trip, I suggest you take the non-air-conditioned bus and choose a seat near the window. Trust me, this one is effective and is easy to puke anytime (lol, that's gross).
Bus fare is estimated ₱85/head (one-way). Just make sure you give a heads-up of the "kundoktor" of the bus to drop you off at Sto.Nino Flores, Catmon, Cebu, or you can keep an eye out for a local landmark near the area: Chim Motor Parts. From there, you can take a motorbike and ask them to take you to the Black Sand Beach Resort. Motor fare is roughly around ₱20-30/Head.
But if you ride by car, you can navigate with Waze or Google Maps and set your destination to "Black Sand Beach Resort" in Catmon. Parking space is also available.
If you are coming from Danao City, just like us, this is accessible via Danao City Terminal. You can ride a minibus or a jeep. As for our case, we chartered "pakyaw" a mini jeep, and since we were 18 boardings, we have saved quite a decent amount for the fare. This is the advantage: if you come as packed, you can have a fare discount regardless of whether you are a student or a regular passenger. Just remember to ask for a discount.
Since this is rented transportation, we do not need to ride a motor fare as we are dropped off at the exact location of the beach. Upon arrival, the receptionist greeted us with a warm welcome, and you know what? We got a discount, too! Two(2) heads were free since we were quite a lot in the group.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT BLACK SAND BEACH?
When you visit Black Sand Beach, there is no entrance, and it is corkage-free. All you need to pay is the table, of which the rates are affordable and budget-friendly If you were planning to do it overnight. There is surely a room and Hammock where you can relax. The beach has also a store so if you wanted to buy some beverages, shampoos, canned foods, they have it too! Also, the Beach is spacious, allowing you, your family, or your friends to play any activities or fun games. If you plan to visit, just make sure the weather is nice or it does not rain the day before your travel because ultimately, the sea will become murky-muddy like.
WHY VISIT THE BLACK SAND BEACH
The murky-muddy sea is quite disappointing due to the heavy rain. But hey! The vibe here? Unmatched. It is indeed Instagrammable. If you are seeking a place where there is solace and relaxation, this is the perfect choice. There is no need to bring an umbrella because the Mangrove Forest and the big trees provide shelter.
When you get there, it feels like you have just reconnected with nature. The Beach is suited for solo travelers, couples, or friends who want to escape from a very past-faced city or want to relax, meditate, or enjoy a quiet picnic. A visit to this beach offers not only relaxation but also a reconnecting with nature. It allows us to think and reflect that a gem like this should be taken care of for the next generation to see. And, if you're a lover of sunsets (who isn't), you're perfectly in the right place. The view of the sea and its surroundings makes you forget that your phone exists because you are too busy living in the moment.
So, if you're planning to head to the North, take the chance to drop by and explore some of the most sought-after beaches in Catmon, Cebu. Let's go and make your trip truly memorable by discovering this coastal haven.
Eyyyy, it looks more fun coz there's a lot of you in there who attended. Its more noisy and more lively kapag ganyan eh diba, uwu. The place looks amazing too, it surely is a good place to have this kind of bonding moments.

Indeed, I particularly loved the vibe of that place!! It is indeed a shame that sea was quite murky at that time, but other than that, it was really instagram-worthy. Hahaha I kinda want to go back there.💗
