Have you ever heard of Abkhazia? This is a small republic, which is a half independant state that is located next to Georgia.

People from my country Russia know about Abkhazia and often go there on vacation, but how about people from other countries? Do they know this place?

The republic is very small, but very picturesque. Besides, there are some really good things to see.

  • The purest sea. Warm, soft and transparent. I have been to many parts of the planet, but not everywhere the sea is so friendly.Of course, there are stormy periods of sea in Abakhasia, but maybe we were just lucky and we got to the most successful moment? Here is a photo of the only one stormy day. The sea is lovely.

And here is the sea in a calm day which we could observe from our balcony:

  • Luxurious nature. I somehow got used to the fact that in order to see some exotic nature, you need to fly for a long time, for many hours. This was the first time I had to admit that I am mistaken.

Beautiful flowers, unusual trees. this is what surrounded us at the hotel. There was a dusty city behind the fence, and we were hidden in a beautiful oasis.

  • Local wine.In Russia we buy real Abkhazian and it costs much, and in Abkhazia you can buy it cheaper on wine plantations. The wine is poured from large barrels into clay jugs and sealed in a special way.

To bring a jug of such wine to your friends in another country is a great gift. The wine has a delicate taste and wonderful aroma. This is the one which we took home:

  • In addition to wine, you can also buy honey. Bees live in such nice houses.

  • Well, since I'm talking about wine and honey, I can't help but mentioning the local cheese. It's delicious. From afar, this smoked cheese looks like buns. Its taste is very tart and spicy. We tried cheese at special tastings, and it was very difficult to decide which one to buy. Because every cheese is good in its own way.

-Coffee in the sand. I have never tasted anything better!

-the most beautiful sunsets. We watched them from our balcony.

  • The most beautiful city of Gagra. The city center with tourist facilities and hotels has recently been renovated. For example, this is the legendary old restaurant Gagripsh.

When I was little. coming to have lunch at this restaurant was real chic. And now it still gathers crowds of tourists every day who want to get inside. They say that the food there is just not very tasty, but the name and fame of the restaurant are much more important than the cuisine.

Next time I will tell you about the excursions that you can have when you arrive in Abkhazia. After all, there are mountains, waterfalls and alpine meadows around here. But now just a beautiful photo of our hotel.

To be continued..
