Splinterlands: Building the Perfect Team in the Brawls

in THGaming12 hours ago

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Community Engagement Challenge! Our guild finished another brawl and coincided with this week's challenge. So I decided to write my brawl report together with the Community Challenge. Today's post is how I build my team in brawls.

Brawl Report

Our guild is still in slump just ranking seventh in the recent brawl. We only got eighty two wins and suffered one hundred seven losses.

My own performance was not great either. I won five out of nine battles. We still got decent rewards in Merits and SPS.

I'm still unlucky with the Gladiator cards. I pulled an epic but this is one card I don't use. I just can't find any utility for Gorth since there are better cards out there.

Building the Perfect Team in Brawls

This brings me to today's topic, building my team in brawls. My bread and butter strategy is to have Quora in the tank position followed by Virid Venomancer and elves. I'll breakdown why I have a high win rate with this team.

Kaylia Silverleaf (archon)

Kaylia Silverleaf is my favorite Conclave Arcana archon. She decreases magic attacks of the enemy team and she has in my opinion, the best Bloodline Dominion ability: Execute. It triggers another attack if the target has two or less health after a successful attack. This ability immediately eliminates an enemy in a round, making it so powerful.

Quora Towershead (tank)

Quora is probably the most used Gladiator card. It's a common tactic in brawls to prevent the other team from using her. She deals dual damage of magic and melee and has high health stats. This makes her an ideal tank if we think about her self healing ability.

Virid Venomancer (second position)

Virid Venomancer is a low health magic unit. I place her in second position because of her Shield Ward ability that grants the Shield to Quora, giving her an additional layer of defense as a tank. With Shield, Quora decreases all physical attacks by one.

Silverleaf Mage (Taunt unit)

I usually place the Silverleaf Mage in the last position. She has the Taunt ability that draws attacks away from Quora. She is a good damage dealer herself dealing three range damage and since she's an elf, will have the Execute ability. She has great defense in her role as a Taunt unit, having two armor and ten health at level one.

Elves (damage dealers)

The rest of my team will be composed of elves or units with Shapeshift ability like Arcane Skinwalker or Bren Palesworn. They will all have the Execute ability that helps decimate the enemy team faster.

My strategy is keeping Quora in battle for as long as possible with additional defense from Virid Venomancer and drawing attacks away from her with the help of Silverleaf Mage. This way, she can deal eliminate the enemy team and trigger her Bloodlust ability as many times as possible in battle.

Sample Battle

In this battle, I formed my team as I discussed above. Quora at tank supported by Virid Venomancer in second position, elves in third and fourth position and Silverleaf Mage in last. The enemy team also had Quora and a beefy tank. However, my team had the better synergy and worked well together better. The enemy attacks were divided between Silverleaf Mage and Quora while were decimating the enemy targets. Soon it was Quora vs Quora in first position but mine had the advantage because of her Shield ability. Take note that even if Virid Venomancer gets defeated, the Shield ability she granted on Quora stays. This helped my team win the battle.

Final Thoughts

I have a high win rate with the team I just featured. However, they are by no means unbeatable. This is what makes Splinterlands a great game. You may have formed a seemingly unbeatable team but there will always be counters. Maybe it's the rulesets or a team with better synergy. No team is unbeatable in Splinterlands. It's up to us players to determine what the enemy will play and prepare our cards to meet theirs.
