Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to my blog! Nidhoggr is a legendary, dragon archon. It's one of the strongest archons in the Modern Mode today and after the update hours ago, the devs listened to the community and gave an important update to this card.
Lore

From the Splinterlands lore, Nidhoggr is a destructive force that got awakened when the Chaos Legion invaded. It doesn't take sides and destroys everyone on its path.
Since before the reach of memory or history, the immense dragon known as Nidhoggr has slumbered beneath Praetoria, buried in the nethermost reaches of the Deep.
But when the legions of Chaos tore open rifts in the boundaries that separated the Splinterlands from the other realms of existence, Nidhoggr stirred. For he is a guardian dragon and custodian of these ley lines.
He rose from the chasm in which he'd buried himself, shook off a mountain of rock and debris, and enlisted the denizens of the Deep to travel to the surface and observe. Soon, he learned of the Chaos Empire's trespass. He learned of the Splinterlanders failure to stop them.
And he found them both guilty.
Praetoria trembles as Nidhoggr stretches his wings and tears at the earth with claws and teeth. Soon, he will rise, both vengeful and ravenous.
Stats, Abilities and Update

Nidhoggr is huge. He needs ten mana to use in battles so it's ideal to use him in high mana battles. He decreases the enemy armor and health by one. He is a tactics dragon and grants Burst and Deathblow abilities to three units or adds two speed stats and Execute ability to three units.
When he was first released, he had a debilitation called Force Reduction wherein you lose one team slot when you put him in battle. The community has been clamoring for the removal of this and after the update, Force Reduction was removed and he can now play at his maximum strength possible.
Featured Battles
I often lose to teams with Nidhoggr whenever I meet him in battles. Now that his debilitation was removed, he has become more fearsome and harder to beat.
I often see him paired with another great dragon, Rage. Their combo is just overpowered.
Battle 1

The ruleset was High Five so were were limited to five slots. Since he still had Force Reduction in this battle, the enemy team only had four slots but these are all strong cards. The enemy team had a very powerful line up made up of Rage, Night Reaper, Calamity and a taunt unit Helheim Demon. Not only did Nidhoggr decrease my defensive stats, he also gave Burst to three of his units. Rage, Night Reaper and Calamity all dealing insane damage. My units were no slouch either but they got demolished like butter on hot knife.
Battle 2

In this battle, he granted a boost in speed and the Execute ability to three units: Mantaroth, Rage and Night Reaper. Execute is one of my favorite ability that made me use the Earth splinter often. It enables the ability owner to perform another attack to a target who has two or less health after a successful attack making this a strong offensive ability. My team is the usual Earth team that I use composed of Warborn Chieftain and the rest are elves who will have the Execute ability. My team usually wins against average opposition but against a team led by Nidhoggr they lost without eliminating a single enemy unit.

Nidhoggr will be more sought after now. I thought this update was great. May there be more dragon battles from now on.
