Happy Sunday!
First off congrats to Kamala the new president of the USA...... I mean Biden 😆. I really liked his speech, it shows he’s a man of faith. Haven’t watched Kamala’s yet.
DashOut
Last Friday I was up and about taking care of some business but got back just in time to have lunch with wifey. I wanted to go somewhere new, but she said hmmmmm. So we ended up going to the オシャレ restaurant around the way.
オシャレ means fancy, pronounced “oshalle”.
Of all the fanciness on the menu I go for grilled chicken... but this one was with some special citrus 🍊 sauce. When it arrived they actually forgot the sauce I was told. It was supposed to be beside the white looking gravy in the mini bowl. My image was the chicken was grilled with the citrus sauce, but I guess not. All in all it was a bland dish but good vibes to chat and plan.
One thing I like about a lot of the restaurants here is they have touch screen menus. But it also got me worried a little once the pandemic started as I know they don’t wipe them down after each rotation of guests. But here is the best thing about restaurants in Japan, the culture is to give you a wet napkin/sanitizer as you are seated. Some places give a hot towel, but this has been the culture since forever.
Kinda MIA
I’ve been spending a lot of time these last couple days sorting out my website and getting the translations separated. Well the little time I did have between work and family. Friends came over on Saturday and were like, “where is Dean?” I wanted to say “working bitch!” But I paid them no mind till I solved the puzzle of the moment then went and had a toast and chatted a bit before diving back to solve another puzzle. I’ve mostly figured things out but there is a lot of work to do like translate some fine details, all the products and the automatic emails and payment options. I’m basically preparing and having faith by doing the the things I’ve always wanted to do with the site, while things are down.
Everyone’s loving the chips
These chips are my main product at the moment as everything else is basically sold out and hard to procure at good prices because of the pandemic. But I really like the time that has given me to revamp and think about the website.
The lovely part about these chips is they are made right here in Japan by a Jamaican and I actually never have to package and send off a box. They go straight from the chef to the customer. I just serve as the sales /marketing with a wide range of payment options to choose from and the convenience of a website.

On a sad note
Today marks 7 years since my sister in law passed away. So we went to the grave and lit some incense and said a prayer. I don’t have a sister but she really showed me what it would be like. We were really tight and did a lot of things together. Many considered her my second wife.
I really do feel it it for my wife as she only had one sibling. It’s hard to think about at times. The good thing is, she has many true friends.... can’t say the same about myself 😆 😞.
After paying our respect ✊🏿 it was time for lunch. A lunch so big there would be no need for dinner. This is just my main below, but there was so much stuff we ended up taking some home.
Interestingly I went to the park today ( as usual) and took my shoes off to get the vibes of the earth ( the in tune know what I’m talking about), this also just inspired ( literally as I typed this) to select the TOK song Footprints to bring an end to this post and to bring a sense of peace to anyone missing a loved one that has gone to the other side.
Give thanks for life!
Have a blessed week!
Jah Alone
Always hard to lose a loved one, especially at a an age that's too early. But paying respects and cherishing the memories keeps her alive.
The song is very appropriate to the situation though.
I hate when restaurants do that. They have like 5 different chicken dishes on the menu, but it's basically just the same recipe chicken with 5 different sauces. That's just lazy.
I never stop to think what it would be like to live in another country and not have the things around you that are almost too common in your home country. For example, banana (plantain) and cassava chips are almost everywhere here, and I'm kind of addicted to the latter. Don't know how I would deal with that.
Indeed it is. The amount of people grieving around the world because of the pandemic is hard to fathom and "winter is coming". It has been a minute since I heard this one from TOK, but it is for sure one of their best works.
Trust me, they trick with a sauce to make the menu look fluffy, they even had different pictures lol.
It is rough but after while you just learn to do without or innovate. The women especially have to have their native food, I could count on one finger the men who buy these chips in a month. The women don't care about the price, they just want what they want, when they want.
Now if only I could engineer an ackee tree to grow in the east, it would be a gold mine.
Lol, funny you should say that. If the chips was too expensive I would have looked for a cheaper Japanese alternative/replacement to cope with. Not sure what provokes the difference between men and women, but it's interesting.
So I was wondering where the guy got them from, and if you could maybe make it yourself. But I'm guessing he imports and then makes the chips locally.
He actually buys the green bananas straight off the boats basically and makes it himself. But I think for me to do it myself would be pushing the jack of all trades. It's better I stick to what I do best. And making, packaging and sending off takes up a lot of time I could put somewhere else that makes more sense for me. The kitchen ain’t my place 😆
True. 😂 But you won't know for sure until you try. I wouldn't focus on packaging or making a business out of it. Just to make a batch for you and your family.
True dat. That makes sense. 🤔 create my own style.
it was fun reading you post s you share different moments of your life bravo man
Thanks. Sometimes it just ends up that way. Easier to write about too.
