Understanding The Bible. MCGI TOPIC REVIEW.

When you read the Bible, you do not just read. You try to meditate and understand with the help of the Spirit of God.”

Those were the first words I heard from Bro Eli Soriano when I listened to this video. Those words are emphatic. They shade a great beam of light over my spirit. They make me understand how to study the Word of God. They enlighten me on the best way to keep my relationship with God.

I should not just read the Bible. I should not read the Bible as if I am reading a newspaper or a newsletter. The Bible is not a storybook. It is not a book of entertainment. Yes, we read the Stories of the children of Israel, Abraham and others. Yet, the Bible is not for mere entertainment. The Bible is a book of life. When reading it, it should not be treated as an ordinary book.

Bro Eli emphasized that we should try to meditate on what we read from the Bible. We should not just read, we should try to meditate. To meditate, we must ponder upon what we have read. We think about it. We try to relate it to ourselves and try to relate ourselves to it. We make a practical application of it to our life situations. That is how we meditate on the Word of God. To meditate means to reflect.

When meditating on the Word of God, we don't do it like philosophers or scientists. We allow the Holy Spirit to guide our minds into understanding what God is trying to relay to us.
