Topic Review: Christian Life — A Prayerful Life | The Old Path

Scriptures: 1 Timothy 2:1&3, Matthew 5:44

God wants us to maintain a prayerful life. The life of a Christian is a life that observes prayers without seizing. If one must maintain a strong relationship with God, such a person must be one that doesn't take prayers for granted. Prayer is one of the major virtues of a Christian.

Our prayers should not be limited to certain set of people. The book of 1 Timothy 2:1 makes more clarity on this.

1 Timothy 2:1 - I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

When we deliberately exclude certain people from our prayers we are not doing the right thing. The scripture said "All men", not some men, or only our friends and families, or only those that we love and love us back. It didn't say any of these things. Our prayers are one sided if we pray in that manner.

But when we pray for all men we please God. Verse 3 of the same chapter went further to tell us this. It reads:

1 Timothy 2:3 - For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

We don't pray how we feel or seem to be the right way to pray. We pray according to the way God has instructed us to pray. Many people don't know about this but that is how prayers should be made. Some of us forbids ever praying for our enemies, but that is actually wrong in the sight of God. God wants us to make prayers for them.

Matthew 5:44 - But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

This should be our attitude towards prayers. Our attitude to our enemies should be based on this scripture. It should not be based on how they treat us. As Christians, we don't pay evil for evil. That's the way of the world, but as for we Christians, we do the opposite.
