The question that Philip, the evangelist asked the Ethiopian eunuch was “Do you understand what you are reading?” The Ethiopian eunuch answered “How can I understand except someone interpret it to me.”
Many of those who are following Jesus Christ today do not understand the Bible. It makes no sense to claim that you are a follower of Jesus Christ if you do not understand the Bible. It is the doctrines that are written in the Bible that we will follow if we want to fulfill the purpose of God. We must understand the Bible. Without understanding the Bible we are walking outside what is expected of us as the followers of Jesus Christ.
According to the story of the Ethiopian eunuch and Philip, someone must read the Bible before he or she can understand it. The beginning of the process is by reading the Bible. Many people find it difficult to read their Bibles. That is not going to help us in our growth.
After reading, we must seek for ways of understanding what we are reading. In the churches, they are those who are Bible teachers. Attending the Bible study sessions can enlighten us to understand the Bible. You can ask questions at where you do not understand.
The Holy Spirit is our Teacher. The Lord Jesus Christ told us that the Holy Spirit will teach us all things that we should know. The Bible was written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit that can explain to us what he has written.
