Hello brethren,
My name is Hossana
It's my first time in Bible readers community.
I feel blessed to be part of this great platform.
I want to share what I learnt in today's mass indoctrination on the topic" obeying and making sacrifices unto God
Our offerings are an act of worship. The offering during the worship service provides believers the opportunity to respond in gratitude to the grace, love, and mercy of God and to put their faith and trust in the Lord into action.
The book of Genesis 4:4 – “And Abel brought the best, the choicest parts of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and his offering.”
The book of Deuteronomy 16:16b, 17 says– “They shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed. Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God that He has given you.”
So we should give to God according to the blessing he has given you.
You are the one who will decide how much you will give, not the pastor or the preacher. 10% of tithe is not a law in the new testament.
But remember according to
Psalm 4:5 , it says “Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD.”
2 CORINTHIANS 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
Psalm 54:6 – “With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to You; I will give thanks to Your name, O LORD, for it is good.”
We should also remember what the book of Corinthians said on what to offer to God. Let read 1 CORINTHIANS 16:1
"Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye". Then the verse 2 ;
1 CORINTHIANS 16:2
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
Psalm 56:12 says – “I must perform my vows to You, O God; I will render thank offerings to You.”
ECCLESIASTES 5:4
When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
When we make vow to the Lord, it is better to vow for what we can do because our Bible condemned making vow and not fulfilling it according to the book of ECCLESIASTES 5:5 it says
Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
1 Samuel 15:22-23 “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice.
Also the book of ISAIAH 1:19 says If be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.
My brethren we should not only offer sacrifice of offering but also let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. According to HEBREW 13:15-16 and also we should not forget to do good and to help one another because these are sacrifices that praises God.
Thanks for reading.
