A servants of God, it is pertinent for us to know the future. We must always be knowledgeable of the future. The Holy Bible is not only a doctrinal book, but a book of prophecy. What is the intent of prophecy according to the Bible?
And now I have told you before it came to pass that when it come to pass he might believe.
Prophetic pronouncements are made by the Lord for us to believe when it is fulfilled. According to our Lord Jesus Christ, and now I have told you before it come to pass, that when it come to pass he might believe. Therefore, Christians are being told of future happenings or events before it even happens which will make us Knowledgeable of what is going to happen in the future. We do not just leave day by day and expect anything to happen or anything to come or What will be will be, no, It is not like that. We have the power, through God's help, to shape our future.
Proverbs, Chapter 16, verse 9
A man's heart devised his way, but the Lord directed his steps.
It is the heart of a man that plans his ways, but it is the Lord that directs or his way. Therefore, we have the power to devise, to plan and to think of what we are going to be in the future. And the Lord God will direct our ways. Therefore we do not just expect things to happen and believe in the things that come our way, no, a Christian has to be certain of his future. He knows what is going to happen. Most of all, he knows what will be the end of his life on Earth. Firstly, we have to know that we are going to die.
In Ecclesiastes Chapter 9:5 it says
The living knows that they will die, but the dead knows nothing.
Therefore, we first must know that we are going to die because we belong to the world of the living, and death is coming after living on this earth. Of course there are people who are not going to die, those people who will be lucky enough to see the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ will not taste death anymore. But everyone is ordained to die. Nobody will disagree with that. Even the most famous of doctors and surgeons agree that one day they will die. That is the first thing that we have to know. We must not speculate. We have to believe it that we are going to die because the living knows that they are going to die. And after that what do we expect?
Hebrews 9:27
And as it is appointed unto man wants to die, but after this the judgment.
After death, Man is going to face the judgment. And that is inevitable. So, we have to know our future, especially the distinct future for a servant of God.
Ephesians, Chapter 2, verse 10,
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto Good works which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
We also have to know that God had before time ordained good works for us to walk in.
While we are here on Earth, therefore, we must be certain of our future, we must be certain of our work, and we must be certain that we are doing God's good works, we must be certain that one day we'll die and there's judgement ahead, and we must obey the commandments of God while we are living on Earth.
