In the words of Bro Eli, the Bible has its own interpretation and understanding the Bible is also God-given. No human understanding is capable of understanding or knowing the real meaning of God's word, no human mind will be sufficient to understand the Bible.
Psalms 94:11
The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
The thoughts of man, the thinking of man, human mind, are all vanity in the sight of God. So they are nothing.
1 Corinthians 11:9
For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
God said, he'll destroy the wisdom of the wise, so no matter how prudent a man can be, his understanding is nothing in relation to God's word.
Do us to understand God's word, we need the understanding that is given by God. Unless it is God that gives us the understanding, we can never understand the complete meaning of God's word in the Bible.
Proverbs 1:23 says
Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
For us to know the word of God in the Bible, we need the spirit from God. And God said, turn ye at my reproof, I will pour out my spirit unto you, and because of that spirit I will make known my words unto you.
First Corinthians 2:11 says
For what man knoweth the things of a man save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man but the Spirit of God.
It is the spirit of God that reveals all the things of God to a man. So for us to have an understanding of God's word, we need the spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 2:10
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
The deep things of God can be understood by man through the intervention of God's spirit, because according to Paul, God hath revealed them, to us by his spirit. So it is by the intervention of God's spirit that we may know his words.
Many are misled by their wisdom to misunderstand the Bible. It is through their wisdom that they will not understand God's word.
1 Corinthians 1:20-21
Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
The wisdom of human beings or human wisdom is a hindrance to understanding God's will. if only human understanding is working, then there's no way that they can understand God's word. God's word is understood by humans through the intervention of God's spirit. It is the spirit that interprets the Bible, not us. We understand God's word, the intention of God's words and God's commandments and teachings and God's holy will through the intervention of the spirit.
