LESSONS LEARNED:
The first doctrine of Christ is baptism.
Baptism is for the washing away of sins.
In Acts 22:16, the first commandment Paul received was to arise and be baptized.
After his baptism, Paul became member and a preacher in the church of God, according to Galatians 1:23.
In Acts 2:41, we see that those who received the teachings of the Apostles were baptized to join the church.
Some say that the church is not necessary anymore.
But is not true.
The church is an institution ordained by God and it's instrumental to the salvation of man.
In Ephesians 3:6, we're commanded to be fellow heirs of the same body, which is the church of God.
And Christ is the head of the church.
The church was built by God for us to join.
The church was ordained to make known the manifold wisdom of God according to the eternal purpose that he purposed in Christ Jesus, as recorded in Ephesians 3:10.
We cannot claim to accept Christ Jesus and reject his words.
If we accept him, we can't ignore the church which he preached.
Christ in John 12:48, said that those that reject him and his words, would be judged by the word he preached.
We shouldn't let another teach us.
It is only Christ that the father commanded us to hear from.
He said, this is my beloved son, hear him.
We shouldn't allow others teach us, because they'll teach us another thing.
We only have one master, which is Christ Jesus.
So the formal act of joining the church is baptism.
Christ taught about the church, hence we can't accept him but reject his teachings.
According to Romans 12:9, we should abhor anything that's evil, but cleave to that which is good.
When Christ said, upon this rock I will build my church, he wasn't going to build his own church, but the church of God.
Whatever is owned by God, is named after him.
Many today build their own church and drack God's name there. This is not supposed to be.
Psalms 127:1 says, except the lord builds a house, they labour in vain that build it.
Some say that the church is not necessary anymore.
But is not true.
The church is an institution ordained by God and it's instrumental to the salvation of man.
So those that build their own church and drack God's name to it, labour in vain.
God says, in vain do they honour me, when they take for worship the doctrines of men.
So it is God that builds the church and the church should be named after him.
1 Timothy 3:15 makes clear that the house of God is the church of the living God.
FORMER BELIEF:
I had no contrary belief regarding this topic.
EFFECTS OF THE TEACHING:
I'm made to understand that baptism is the first doctrine of Christ.
Thanks be to God.
We are inviting you to join the MCGI Cares (Hive) community that study the words of God and also earn some reward by making our reactions on it. We can check this link https://peakd.com/c/hive-182074/trending
Thanks be to God for listening on our meeting.
MCGI Cares (Hive) community's main mission is to share the words of God, not the Hive upvotes. If we get upvotes, please treat it as just a bonus. Do not focus mainly on material things as the bible is teaching us not to look at things seen but rather focus our eyes on things not seen.
II CORINTHIANS 4:18
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
The first doctrine of Christ is baptism indeed. Thank you for sharing.
