The Purpose of our Existence (Part 1 of 3) - the lesson I learned

in MCGI Cares Hive2 months ago

It is not because of our purpose that we exist. It is because of the purpose of the One who created us.

Today's teaching points to us the purpose of our existence. Bro Eli made us understand that we were born without our consent; similarly, we were born without our own plans until we began to have pursuit for certain things. We are not existing by our choice.

Bro Eli gave an example of a chair who serves its purpose according to the designer. The chair has no right to act like a table or bench even though it may be a wood; this is similar to our lives which was made and designed by God.

We work and walk according to the purpose of the One who made us (God). Just as the chair designer can disassemble the chair and use it for another purpose, we are likely to be such a being. We have no choice than to let the designer do what He plans to do with our lives.

Bro Eli gave another edifying example - just as parents often expect a boy child but end up having a girl. It indicates that they are not the one in charge of who exists or not. "There is someone whose purpose has to be realised."

Ephesians 2:10

KJV:For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

we cannot find the word purpose in the above scripture, but it explains we are God's workmanship (that is purpose). We are created by God to do good works; that is what God wants us to do. If you do not do good works as God planned it you have not succeeded the plan God has for you.

Ecclesiastes 6:3

KJV:If a man beget an hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also that he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he.

From the context of Ecclesiastes, Bro Eli shared "the purpose of our existence is to do good, to be good, to do good, to adhere to what is good."

Even if you live a hundred years, if you don't do good, an untimely birth is better than you (as seen in Ecclesiastes 6:3). Untimely birth can lead to death, and it is better than you living long but not doing good.

As man or woman, reflect on what is your purpose, what is God's original plan for your life. Then grow in it!
