What I learned:
How important are our ears?
Our ears our responsible for hearing and it has three parts, the outer part, the inner and the innermost part. In James, chapter one, verse 19, the Bible admonishes us to be swift to hear but slow to speak. That is to say that we should hear fast, but then we should not be speaking fast what we hear. We should not be in a hurry to speak or to say out everything that we hear fast. We are not to listen to gossips or vain words, but we have to listen to the word of God, because it is in listening to the word of God that we can put it to practice and we can develop faith, So that we can live right before God.
Should we avoid people that are doing wrong?
Many fellow men said they will avoid people that are doing wrong so that they will not be influenced by them, while some said they will relate with them but then they will not allow them to influence them. That people are making mistakes or doing wrong does not mean that we should avoid them. Avoiding them would not allow us to be able to correct them. We should relate with them with the intention of correcting them. And bringing them to the knowledge of the truth, because God wants all men to be safe and come to the knowledge of the truth. So we should relate with our fellow men who are doing wrong in order to correct them, in order to draw them to God so that they can leave their wicked ways.
In first Corinthians Chapter 9 verse 20 to 21, the Bible tells us of how Paul behaved with fellow men. In order to gain them to Christ. That to those who were without law, he became like without law in order to gain them. He behaved well and then he behaved like under the law to God. So we should not avoid our fellow men because they are doing wrong, but rather we should relate with them according to the words of God in order to win them to God.
Doing good does not exclude any race, any faith or even enemies. We should do good to everyone. Whenever we have the opportunity. We should let ourselves to be instruments of doing good works and instrument of righteousness to God. Job chapter 29 verse 15 tells us of how Job became eyes to the blind, feet to the lame. So we should ensure that we allow God to use us to do good works. Romans chapter 12 verse one says that we should offer ourselves as living sacrifice. So we should be ready to help our fellow men.
FORMER BELIEF:
I don't have any opposing believe regarding this teaching.
IMPACTS OF THE TEACHING:
We should be quick to hear, but slow to speak. It's not everything we should listen to, but the word of God in order to develop faith.
