The whole duty of man is to follow the teachings and commandments of God. He created us for a purpose, and that purpose is for us to worship him and live in accordance with his will.
As believers, we have to follow the commandments of God in order to be on his side. The book of Ecclesiastes 12:13 teaches us that it's our duty to fear God and keep his commandments. We should always listen to the indoctrination sections because it will help us get better understanding of the teachings and commandments of Christ and also build our spiritual life by drawing us closer to things of God.
So for us to reach heaven, we have to obey God's will and follow his teachings. We should not be only hearers but also doers of the word of God.
