Prayer is a very crucial part of a true Christian. To be a Christian, one has to be prayerful but the bible made us to understand that prayer alone is not just sufficient, but by employing actions. When we ask God to bless us by praying, we don't just stay stagnant in one place and expect God to bless us, instead we should go out and look for job because heaven help those who help themselves.
God can only answer our prayer through the work of our hands. As students, we can't just pray and ask God for exam success without employing actions by reading. We can't just pray from morning till night for God to bless us , give us a house and other things we need to live comfortably, yet we sit one place expecting God to do miracle or by depending on people's hard work.
God want us to work, that's why if we pray and work he will bless the work of our hands. So Prayer is not sufficient to get closer to God, instead with prayer and hard work we will be able to get closer to God because prayer without hard work is vain.
