We are to be mindful of the kind of information that will take in. Just like we are not advised to eat any kind of food as it could be dangerous to our health we are not expected also to take in any kind of spiritual information because it could also be dangerous to our spiritual health.
The word of God is the only truth that we need to accept. Anything outside the word of God is false. The Bible warned us in the book of Revelation that anybody that takes anything out of God's word or add anything in addition to God word will face the consequences. The word of God is light. This light cannot be found anywhere outside the word of god.
