The manner in which a Christian should live his or her life in terms of marriage should be in a monogamous setting. Having multiple spouses should not really be the way of a Christian. The Bible when talking about marriage say that for this reason a man shall leave his house and cling unto one woman not multiple women and both of them shall be one.
This is how marriage is supposed to be. When we begin to alter the pattern of God concerning anything things begin to produce a negative outcome for us. It happened in the case of Solomon. Solomon went and took in multiple wives which was never the plan of God for him. One of the instructions that God gave him was to work in the ordinances of David his father.
But he went on and took him many wives not knowing that by so doing he was going to eventually walk in disobedience in God and how he did this was that he began to worship different gods because he was influenced to begin to worship them, when he was meant to worship God alone and no other gods.
A simple instruction that God may give to us when disobeyed may lead to us doing something far more grievous to God. The union that is supposed to be experienced in marriage according to the Bible should be between a man and one woman and no other way
