Prayers is a means by which we communicate to God. We see instances in the Bible when Jesus desired to speak with His father and He did it by prayers. When we pray to God we are establishing fellowship with Him. Prayers did not start today. In the days of the old and early church people prayed as well.

But making prayers is not the main thing. What should be deeply considered is if we are making the prayers in the proper way or contrary to it. There is the right manner that we are expected to pray before God. Let's see what the passage has to say about this:

Matthew 6:5 - And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Prayers is not something that we do to showcase ourselves before the public. Prayer is a personal thing; between us and God in heaven. Prayer should be done out of the heart with all genuineness and sincerity. Some people's prayers go unanswered before they pray hypocritically. There are other reasons as well why a person's prayer may not be acceptable to God

Proverbs 15:8 - The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight

A heart that conceives evil is not qualified to pray to God. For our prayers to be answered by God it has to be done from a pure heart. The state of our hearts when praying to God matters a lot, that's why we are told to guard our hearts with all diligence.

Other passages discussed in today's teaching are:
Ecclesiastes 5:1, Isaiah 65:24, 1 Peter 2:1, Ecclesiastes 7:27, Mark 11:25, John 4:1
