I’m very happy to be an early bird in Brother Eli’s preaching today because I learned something powerful. I’ve always asked people questions concerning tithe but everyone says we should give ten percent of our income to the church.
Now, Brother Eli mentioned that it was in the Old Testament we were asked to give ten percent of our income to the church but for the New Testament, you should only give what you have.
If you do not have, do not bother to give.
I love the fact that Brother Eli quoted from the Bible and went thus;
Corinthians 9:7 says, "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
This means that we should not be forced to give but do it from the willingness of our heart.
I’d also give two pictures of Brother Eli proving his point.
Brother Eli also mentioned that the sacrifices and willingness to do something or contribute to the church development is for God and we will surely be rewarded.
All the money we save in the church isn’t for the Pastor but for the church development.
The Pastor has nothing to do with our money.
Brother Eli also read some Bible passages like.
Romans 15:26
Psalms 1 16:17
That’s what I learned today and I hope to learn more tomorrow.
True but I feel God is a covenant keeping God, and there are principles to be followed if we choose to have same results as those before us, tithe to me is a personal commitment to God's work.
Sure
It is a commitment and that’s why people should not act like they were forced to do it
Very true
