POINTS OF WHAT I LEARNT.
I learnt that parents have the right to discipline their children when necessary. Disciplining our children is an important aspect of parenting. God has given us the responsibility as parents to raise our children, therefore we parents should take the role of leader and authority with confidence knowing that God ordained that we do so. In order to apply discipline correctly and according to biblical principles, parents must be familiar with the scriptural advice regarding discipline. Parents should start early to discipline their children. Waiting until a child is of age may be too late. Habits would have been formed long before then. A child need to learn to obey as soon as possible. They need to show a proper attitude in obedience as well. Ephesians 6:1&2 says that children should obey and honor their parents. It is one thing to obey (do what they are told) but they also need to do it with honour. This is something they need to be taught early. We should apply the rod of correction to our children in a consistent way.
God's discipline is loving. Physical punishment should always be followed immediately by comforting the child with assurance that he/she is loved. We should teach our children that God disciplines us because He loved us and that,as parents, we do the same for our children.
Nurturing our children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord means feeding them with God's word. It means teaching them and guiding their behaviors so that they will learn what it means to follow christ. Discipline teaches our children to trust and love God. If we want to nurture our children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord,then we should be an example!we should be disciplined,we should demonstrate self-control and correct them with gentleness. Correction is often paired with gentleness in the scripture. Mercy, not harshness,lead to repentance.
As we work to live into Christ's ways,we should prepare ourselves to be a better guide for our children to the same.
Adhering to the spiritual discipline of the Lord shapes us into the likeness of Christ. To be shaped,we must be softened. That means we must be humble and willing to be changed.

HOW DOES THE STUDY AFFECT ME.
The study has taught me that disciplining our children in the way of the Lord is the best thing we can do for them.
