Harvest Festival In India.

Pongal

Pongal is a four day harvest festival here in Tamil Nadu, as well as other states. We celebrate by getting rid of old stuff you don't need by throwing it in fire pits, worshiping the sun, eating specific foods, dressing in brand new clothes, bathing, feeding and adorning cows, etc. My father in law took me on a bike ride through our neighborhood for some pictures on the third day, Maattu (cow) Pongal, the day to worship the cattle. Because of some covid restrictions, celebrations this year were more humble and in small numbers. But we managed to have some nice time going around Kattupakam here in Chennai. Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed photographing it.
