School canteen

Another series of training shots for the study of close-ups and medium plans in reportage photography.

The school canteen is full of metal and aluminum items.

To begin with, you always need general or medium plans, in order to show the scale of the territory.

The school cafeteria kitchen is usually only accessible to the staff who work here. Ordinary people, schoolchildren, teachers are extremely rare here.

Close-ups often involve blurring the background, using a shallow depth of field.

The most common type of utensil for large-scale food preparation is aluminum pans.

Still life also refers to large-scale subjects. But there the composition is made by the photographer, and in reportage photography the photographer is looking for a ready-made composition.

Even close-ups should have dynamics and rhythms.

In close-ups, all the same techniques and composition rules work. Framing is also acceptable.

You can even make a series of only close-ups, but then it will be too conceptual presentation. I would prefer to show at least one medium shot.

Close-ups can be done with different focal lengths. Wide angle is rare, but also applicable.

Basically, large objects are shot at focal lengths longer than 50 mm.

Work continues...
