Following from my last post, I went whale watching one day!
I got up and got on the boat to sail out of the harbour at about 9am for a full action packed day of whale watching!
The ocean at Hervey Bay is by far the flattest I have ever seen, with practically no waves. This made for a super pleasant day of whale watching, and made getting photos easy with no rough water to counter.
It took a little while to find some whaless, and when we first found some playing around they were a bit far to take photos of, as I have not currently got a telephoto lens. I went with my 24-70, which worked out really well when we had a few whales come up really close later on in the day.
Here were my favourite shots from the day.
Great photos, Ben! You could easily send them to National Geographic!!
How much time did you need to find them?
I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project which will be highlighted in the next post!
Wow, thank you so much! It took maybe an hour to find the first lot of whales, but the close up shots were taken later in the afternoon, maybe 4 or 5 hours after the other images.
Awesome shots! Looked like you had a whaley good time.
Thank you! I did have a whale of a time :)
if it was possible I would like to swim with the whale😁👍
Yes it is possible! In Queensland, Australia there are some spots where you are able to take a boat out and swim with them!
that sounds great I'll need to found out if they have it a little closer to cape town.
Australia is a bit of a far walk 🤣🤣
and great shots🤩
Thank you!
