Heya, Hivers! @makiyumee here and I am back again with this new blog! Today, I will be sharing to you about the orientation that I attended that served as the next step for my internship journey. So, stay with me and here we go!
It was January 7, 2025, and the skies were clear as the sun shone brightly, marking the start of a new and exciting chapter in my life. I arrived at CNU-Medellin’s covered court, feeling both nervous and excited. As I stepped inside, I saw a few of my fellow 4th-year students already seated on the chairs prepared for us. I found an empty seat and sat down, trying to take in the moment. The orientation hadn’t started yet, so I had some time to look around and observe the people around me. Everyone was dressed in their neat internship uniforms, looking professional and ready for this next step in our journey. I couldn’t help but feel a little out of place because I wasn’t wearing mine yet—it wasn’t done being tailored. Still, I admired how polished and grown-up everyone looked, and it made me think about how far we had all come.
As I sat there, memories of our first year in college began to flood my mind. It felt like it was just yesterday when we were wide-eyed, innocent, and unsure of what lay ahead. We were once naïve and gullible freshmen, still adjusting to college life, unsure of ourselves, and full of questions about the future. Back then, everything felt so new and overwhelming, and we relied so much on our teachers and older classmates to guide us. Now, as I looked at my classmates in their uniforms, I realized how much we had grown. We were no longer those unsure 1st-year students; we had matured, learned so many lessons, and faced countless challenges along the way. This moment reminded me of how much effort and determination it took to reach this point.
The thought of us finally becoming interns made me feel emotional. This was the beginning of the end of our journey as students, and soon, we would be stepping into the real world. It was a mix of excitement and nostalgia—excited for the opportunities ahead but also nostalgic for the memories of how it all started. As I sat there, waiting for the orientation to begin, I promised myself to cherish every moment of this new experience. It was a reminder of how far we’ve come and how much further we could go. This was not just the start of our internships but also the start of fulfilling the dreams we’ve worked so hard to achieve.
It wasn’t long before it was finally time for us to log in and officially start the program. My classmates and I lined up to write our names and record the time we arrived on the attendance sheet. Once we finished, we returned to our seats, preparing ourselves for the orientation. The atmosphere was filled with a mix of nervousness and excitement as we waited for the program to begin. A little while later, the speakers for the orientation arrived. They were supervisors from the main campus, and it was clear from their presence that they were important and respected figures. These were the people who would guide and support us throughout our internship journey. Seeing them made me feel both honored and a little nervous, knowing that we would be learning from some of the best.
When the orientation began, I made sure to focus and listen carefully to what the speakers were saying. I knew that everything we wanted to know about our internship experience would be discussed, and I didn’t want to miss any important details. The speakers started by welcoming us and congratulating us for reaching this stage, and then they began explaining everything we needed to know. The orientation covered a wide range of topics. They talked about the code of conduct that we needed to follow as interns, emphasizing the importance of professionalism and respect. They also discussed how our performance would be evaluated and how our grades would be computed by our mentors. It was a lot of information to take in, and at times, it felt overwhelming.
But I reminded myself that this was all part of the process, and I needed to stay focused. I continued to listen closely and took notes on everything the speakers said. Writing things down helped me process the information better, and I knew it would be helpful to look back on later. Even though it was a lot to absorb, I felt grateful for the guidance and clarity the orientation provided. It made me realize just how serious and important this internship was and how much responsibility we were about to take on. This was our chance to grow and prove ourselves, and I was determined to give it my all.
It was around 12 in the afternoon when the orientation finally ended. Aside from feeling very hungry, I also felt deeply satisfied and thankful. The orientation was packed with important lessons and information that we needed to know before being deployed to the schools where we were assigned. It gave me a better understanding of what to expect and how to prepare for the challenges ahead.
I am really grateful to the teachers and the speakers for their time and effort in guiding us. They didn’t just share information, they gave us the confidence and motivation to step into this new chapter of our lives. This opportunity is something I will always appreciate because it prepares us for the real world and helps us become better versions of ourselves. This orientation marked the start of an exciting journey, and I was ready to face it with determination and hope.
That would be all for today's blog and thank you so much, I will see you all on the next one!
