Hello there Hiverss! May you all be in good spirits today. I am Madimoire, here again, to share another blog. As someone who aspires to become a teacher, I always get to do activities and projects that are somehow out of my character as an individual who lacks creativity and an innovative mindset. One of the most challenging projects that I and my classmates have encountered in our venture into the profession of teaching is the challenge of making a print-rich environment suited for elementary graders. It was our last project for the subject Content and Pedagogy for the Mother Tongue. It was an ordeal just thinking about how would we organize the whole room and we even lacked the budget to do so.
Since it was a final project, I could still recall that we almost had been working on it for three months, we needed to consider a lot of things and the teacher even gave us guidelines as to how we would utilize the space in our room. We've realized that work would be faster if we all had different tasks that is why, the Mayor in our class had suggested that it would be convenient if we could divide the whole class into groups to work on the different designs and learning materials that we wanted to display.
I together with my group had been tasked to do a flip chart containing stories that are based on our mother tongue which is Cebuano, after which we had finished the task we now had to help with another set of designs to display the basic colors. It was fun working on this project since most of us had been doing our very best just so that we could attain the goals that we had set from the start and that was to make sure that learners would soon visit us after we made the print rich classroom would be satisfied and will be able to learn something new based of our designs.
We even made the basic shapes, the vowels and consonants, basic rules in the classroom, short stories, tongue twisters, phonics, syllabic falls, alphabet, Good Manners and Right Conduct, Musical Staff, Hygiene area and a whole lot more. We even sacrificed some of our Friday breaks just so that we could somehow get an improvement with our work. I had to commend our Mayor during that time since she had been so persistent and determined to be able to create a nice output that would be reflected on all of us, she didn't easily give up even when there were moments when we were out of funds and even the money that we have collected in our class was not enough to cover for the other raw materials for the design.
As months had fastily went by, we were now able to complete the whole classroom and those who could get a glimpse into our room would say "Now it feels like you're all ready to become teachers'' our classroom was a reflection of the hard work and dedication that we've put through the whole duration of the print rich environment.
The most awaited day has come and now learners from kindergarten have visited our humble classroom, it was nice seeing them happy and they'd always look around to see the different displays of our work, third-year students of those who have the same course as us have also done storytelling to the kids and that's what makes the whole event more exciting and fun.
It was a memorable experience that I had never imagined, all of the efforts have paid off and we're all glad that the kids who visited us enjoyed their stay, Every moment I spent on my course was surprising and I can't help but look through back to all of those events that helped became more knowledgeable when it comes to polishing myself to be prepared in becoming a teacher someday.
