A while back I came up with a crazy idea to capture a spark, several of them actually, and because I couldn't find a good enough reason not to I proceeded to give it a try using my phone. Hmm, should we even call phones "phones" anymore? It seems they're more cameras than phones these days, that's how they're marketed anyway.
Maybe we should call them camphones?
Anyway, despite that being a topic of critical importance, that's a discussion for another time ; I'm sure I'll be able to do an entire post on it at some stage in the near future (and probably will), but today I wanted to share a couple totally shit photos I took with my camphone.
Above, you'll see a photo of some sparks coming off a grinding disc. I know, shit right?
Anyway, I'm not dissuaded by a shit result so I decided to have another try as below, another photo taken on my camphone...actually, I think I'll change the name and call it a phoneamera from now on if you don't mind, it has a nicer ring to it.
Ring...get it? See what I did there?
So that's about it, I think this is about as many words as I can write about a couple shit photos of sparks...ok, sure I could write way more but I think I don't need to.
Have you ever taken any photos of sparks on your camera or your phoneamera? If you have then feel free to show one in the comments below, or feel free not to; it's a choice only you can make for yourself.

phoneamera - love it man. It has a decidedly retro sci-fi ring to it!
Everyone needs one...and luckily the asshole phoneamera companies bring a new one out every six months so there's plenty out there. Phoneamera's for everyfuckenone!
They almost shoot themselves in the foot tho as you can pick up last year's model quite cheap and stick it to them. As much as you can, lol.
The pics were fecking marvellous too. Say what you want about phoneameras these days the cameras are amazing!
Yeah, last year's model...same as this year's, just a different colour.
Lol. So very true now apart from those foldy ones. I am half tempted except they cost a bomb
I saw a bloke with one yesterday actually, looked ok, fits in the pocket ok to. I just wonder how long the screen lasts being folded and opened all the time.
The good lady's friend has had one of the earlier models for over a year and it's totally fine. The only horrible thing with gets is she insists on using a screen protector which emphasises the slight bump in the middle and looks awful. I like the clamshell type ones for folding up small
C'mon everyone knows it's a Telecam. lol
@ksteem knows...
His Telecams fly.
😎
Haha, that's another good one. Now I feel like an idiot for not thinking that up myself! ☺️
I tried to think of a few words to say about Sparks but all I could come up with was this
You're probably too young to remember them but they were quite the thing in my day.
Yeah, I must be too young!
Fuck me, I'm young again!
The only sparks I have taken a picture of lately has been from a campfire.
I only do that when I am high as hell. That should count as shit photography!
Campfire sparks are legit so they definitely count!
Love the action shots! Pretty sweet photos in terms of the ability of our phones to take such things. Looks like part of the workshop where they fix trucks and shit!
Yep, I took these a while back, dared to get close enough with my phone to capture them. I had safety glasses on though. #safetyfirst
When grinding stuff is out, eye protection and a cup for the boys should be mandatory. We are toast without either of those!
Lol, yeah not much use for us without them. 😂
Looking forward to that post.
Those sparks turned out great. Phone cameras have a pro mode where you can adjust shutter speed, aperture and ISO.

Cheers, G!
Shutter speed, aperture and ISO...yeah, I've heard of them but don't know what they do and I'm ok with that, I'm happy for them to remain a mystery.
You put on gloves, helmet and glasses to protect yourself from a burn?, spark burns hurt a lot.
Yes, I have taken pictures of the sparks from the fireworks.
That's a lot of sparks! Nice work.
Thanks
Walky Talky Video Recorder?
Well of course I have.
You can see them too. Just click on the sparkly little fuckers. But please shield your eyes...
💥💥💥💥
You probably make sparks wherever you go.
If you had said farts, I would have to agree.
But I am pretty much spark free these days. Next week when all hell breaks loose there will be fireworks. And I will defend myself if necessary...
Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how it goes.
Probably the only sparks I get on my camphone are from fires when we are camping. That's likely about it.
Not really very sparky I guess!
Hmm, no sparks there, but campfires are always good to have, and photograph.
Greetings! That post is already 2 days old but I had not been able to respond.
I loved the photos, it gives it a modern style. I've also had a photo of sparks for a while now, saved in case you need it for a hive post.
That's a pretty good photo. Sparkly!
Hi Galen, I have never tried to capture a spark with my phone. A few days ago I tried to take the picture of raindrops bouncing on the wet ground and the result was not very good.
Regards.
Raindrops splashing to the ground would be a good photo...and if it comes out shit this is the community for them!
🤣 I will do so with the next ones.
Have a nice end of the day. Regards.
Love these!! The images turned out incredibly well if you ask me!
Yep, came out pretty well huh?
Camera phone I think it is right, after all it is used for that, too much. They take good pictures... like those I see here, they are amazing!!! I haven't taken sparks, but I love the photo of the welder with that blue smoke, it's great!!!!
In the past my brother used to love to make bonfires and took pictures of those sparks... and fire... although I prefer water. He's the arsonist hahaha
Those are great pictures!
I wonder what a photographer that uses a phone is called?
A phonetographer?
That would be me! For the moment... hahaha
A photomobile? a telephotograph?
Phones have been made so sophisticated to perform many functions these days. I have almost abandoned my computer because I could do virtually everything I used to do with the computer with it.
Yeah, many people probably use their phone instead of a computer; I use both.
Hahaha, camphones? The genZ would say, android or iPhone and would not accept just a simple word phone.
Yeah, GenZ have their ideas huh? Others say they have, "no idea!"
Hahaha, most of the time, they always say that.😅
