The city of Madrid is waking up

IMG_20241016_073001.jpg

Today I bring some very special shit-photos for me for several reasons. About 20 days ago I changed my office, moving to one of the most expensive areas of Madrid, also for several reasons.

My new workplace is located in Madrid (Spain) in the area of Argüelles, very close to a big shopping center, “El Corte Inglés of Princesa street, and to one of the most touristic areas of Madrid (Plaza España, Gran Vía, etc.). Streets and avenues that I know very well.

I usually get up early, I think, to go to my new office. Although I usually start working around 9:00 am or 10:00 am I like to arrive earlier, sometimes a couple of hours earlier. This has its advantages, on public transport I meet few commuters, if there is a breakdown, which is not so rare, I have enough time to get there and it allows me to plan my day with peace of mind (and also browse through Hive). In addition, I have a very special connection with sunrises and sunsets. It has a special energy for me.

I have already mentioned that I know the neighborhood of Argüelles quite well and at this precise moment it is the one to talk about intuition. The morning of a Tuesday (I think it was Tuesday) dawned rainy, I took public transport as almost every day when at a certain point in my journey I was assaulted by intuition. I imagined some photographs taken that morning. Images assaulted by the brightness of colored lights reflected on the wet asphalt. I also imagined the steps I had to follow to be able to catch what was still only imagination.

My final metro station (Argüelles) passed me by, actually I passed it by, I got off at Moncloa, a station further away from my new workplace. I had planned to take a short walk, but when I got to Argüelles I decided to keep walking as far as my intuition would take me.

Looking at the photographs several days later has given me food for thought. In some of them you can identify a cleaning service. Madrid, like any big city is a sewer, and without this night work, poorly paid, performed in large numbers by migrants, Madrid would not dawn with the beautiful face that shows every day, but covered with a filth that, surely, would hide the beauty of this great city.

This rain has coincided in time with the rains in Cuba and the electrical blackout suffered by the people of Cuba. Moments in which I have had in mind people I love. It is true that here the rain has been soft, but even if it had been a downpour, it is unthinkable that here the situations that occur in Cuba, which I appreciate, but it also saddens me. How much talent has been lost or this talent is not valued as it deserves for having been born in one place; and how many untalented mediocre people live like kings for the mere fact of having been born in another place.

I want to finish by mentioning again my new workplace. In principle the rent is much more expensive than that of my previous office, but the work agreement with the new center opens the doors to teaching, which is something that I think I feel like doing at the moment, besides the fact that it will be a new source of income. These photos represent, in some way, this new day in my professional life.

I hope this walk through a Madrid that is starting to wake up has been to your liking.

“Oh, Cumaná, who would see you
and walk through your streets
and go to San Francisco
to mass at dawn”
(Anonymous)
A famous song in Cumaná, which I could sing to Madrid, even if I didn’t know which parish to attend.
Although I was present, I don’t remember, but my baptism must have been in Congreso.
I think you managed to capture the magic of that early hour when, as the Arab poets say, you can’t tell if a thread is white or black, I imagine you on those wet streets about to meet the spirit of Fonseca.
When I walk through Buenos Aires with its well-kept groves and checkered sidewalks, like a chocolate bar and still cobbled roads, it brings back memories of childhood, of that time so far away that sometimes seems like another life.

Success in Argüelles and all facets of life, A hug @enraizar

Thank you very much for your good wishes, I think that what I set out to do a couple of years ago is coming true.

I didn't know the song, but I can tell you that, I don't know if I captured the spirit of the moment, but there is a photo that, to my surprise 🫢, I like.

I also tell you that I was waiting for this comment. I know how much you love Madrid and how closely you are connected to this city. And it was/is very important to know what these images conveyed to you.

A hug from a friend, @felixmarranz.

Beautiful city, and it looks spectacular when it rains and contrasts with the lights. Ever since I was a child and saw Spanish movies, I always longed to visit it and it was in my dreams. But Hive has provided me to see it in photos and even walk in its streets with you when you tell us those walks by day and night. I live them every day, I no longer dream of them. You speak with such vehemence and affection of Cuba and of us, because I am included among your Cuban friends that my eyes watered. Calm down, we are overcoming the difficulties, it touched us. I always say to myself that in the world there are those who are worse off and also in Cuba. To have health, a united family and years of life is a blessing. Having you my new friends thanks to Hive is also a blessing. Thank you for loving us. A big hug and my best wishes for a nice weekend. Enjoy your new office and may everything go as planned. 🤗🥰😁

Thank you for those words you dedicate to me, lately I've been feeling very emotional and I've also been shedding some tears. I don't forget that I have a comment pending, but my life has taken a little turn and it's hard for me to find the time.

Thank you also for accompanying me on this walk, I love to go hand in hand with people I love, and in this case I also admire.

To both of you, I include nanixxx here, I love you a lot. If you can't come to Spain, I will have to take Spain there. In a few months I want to travel to Peru, maybe I can come to visit you. Or later.

A big hug.🥰

I'm also very emotional these days, or I don't know... it's been many days, many months...

🤗 What a nice walk full of reflections on wet streets, under the rain. Thanks for bringing Madrid to our screens, colourful and clean, a great city, no doubt.
And what you say about talent. It's not really so, in my humble opinion. It doesn't matter the place. It's about things that have to come together, to align. How many talented people in the world lived miserable lives and it was after their death that they were recognised? Also what may be talent for some may not be talent for others.

I thank Hive for the opportunity it gives me every day to do so many things, to make so many discoveries and also to be moved by words, places and art created by simple people.

Thank you, thank you.

Regarding talent, I do believe that this is the way things are. Maybe it doesn't matter if we talk about personal experience, the search for recognition is a rather idiotic goal. But I find the world I live in so unfair....

About what you say about Hive, I am also very grateful for everything it is giving me.... For example, the opportunity to share this ride with wonderful people 😃, you know you are one of those wonderful people.

I say goodbye, for now, with a challenge: there is a photo that I really like ( which is a novelty for me 😍). Do you dare to say which one it could be? You can answer that none 🤣. That they are all horrible.

And of course, you can't miss a very big hug 😌. I hope you feel it very strong.

Gracias por todo

I like them all, but I have my favourites because they arouse emotions in me.
The one at 7:36 and the one of the pastry really catch my eye.
And I also like the next one because you sent me a similar one when you told me about this walk. And I like what I see in both of them.

(no sé, dime tú cuál es la que más te gusta)

Son muchas cosas pasando por mi mente ahora. ;)

Abrazo recibido y de vuelta. Yo te agradezco más a ti. 😃

It was just a question to know if in fact my liking 🙂 for her is justified or it's a me thing. The pastry one I like too, it was like very intuitive, I saw glory and pressed the button.

The one I like is 07:56, I saw the image, the light and started taking pictures. It's a car crossing and when one traffic light closes, the other one opens. At that hour there was already traffic and when I looked at the photos there was only one without cars, with the woman with the umbrella and the perspective of the Gran Via. I guess I like it for what it cost me to take it.

I just heard that a hurricane passed through there, are you ok?

Yes, that's a nice picture, and I liked it too. 😍

But that's how it is with photography, for me it's more about what the other person feels when they see an image. And it's all about that single moment. I mean, the experiences lived, evocations, longings, dreams.

The hurricane passed through the East. I am fine. I'm quiet at home.
I thought I'd go to make some paperworks but yesterday they said what they said... until Monday, all closed. And I started to write a post that has no end. 🙆

Creation is always like that, when you make a creation public, it is no longer yours. It belongs to the one who observes it...

I'm glad to know that the hurricane passed far away... And about the Philippine schedules, I'm not saying anything.

About the interminable post, maybe it will be finished when I get up... 😁

Gracias

Hey, I am very happy for you, for your new office and for what you have achieved, this new teaching job. I know it's going to work out great because it's something that was waiting for you. It came when you were ready.

Wow!! Amazing photos. It’s a Madrid view so different and difficult to get. Great work. 👏

Speaking of work, I wish you a lot of success for that new stage that you have already started. Changes are opportunities to grow, you already know that. 😘

Paloma, I think you are right, they are difficult images to get. You have to be there at that time, have a hunch and follow it. Next will be the Metropolitano. 😁

About the opportunity, I have been preparing for this moment for years. I think everything will be fine... Thank you very much.

Oh Madrid, Madrid, sooner rather than later we will meet 😉

I loved the photos ( The one in the bakery was my favorite), but I liked the reflections you left us even more.

Thank you, my friend, for keeping us in mind 🙏🏻

I agree with you regarding talent, but I believe that many times talent finds a way to flourish even in the greatest adversities.

I wish you lots and lots of success in your new work phase, for which I am very sure you are more than prepared.

P.S.: Keep bringing us these walks , please 😁

I will leave more rides, that's for sure, but I don't know if the next one you will like so much 😌, maybe it won't be the next one, but I have almost prepared a post on the Metropolitan.

I've been following the power outage with a lot of concern. Not hearing from you, the friends from Cuba.... And I've been very happy when I've been seeing that your posts were appearing on Hive... There will be time to get to know each other, that's also for sure.

A big hug, thank you very much for this visit.

Congratulations, your post has been added to The WorldMapPin Map! 🎉

Hey @enraizar you are welcome.
Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘

It's great to see the reflections on the streets and that's thanks to the rain, I love the rain. Here it hasn't rained continuously for a long time... maybe a few drops and nothing more.

I like the red reflections on the streets, it reminds me of the time I went to Buenos Aires.

As for the job, it's great, new doors and opportunities that I'm sure you thought about at some point and now they materialize!!!

Best regards and good night!✨

Good morning @avdesing, it doesn't rain much here either, and when it does it's not always like this, with fine rain, and besides it was lucky to have been at the right time and place.

I'm glad this post brought you nice memories and good feelings.

And thank you very much for the good wishes, this year was the time to take this step. I have a 4-year plan and, so far, I'm sticking to it.

A big hug.untitled.gif

Goals and action to develop those goals, that's great! Let's get on with it! Good morning!😃

Gracias!! me paso a visitarte más tarde. Buen día @ 🐦🎶

No hay ninguna prisa, debido a la falla de hace una semana en videos no se que haré... bueno si sé pero debí improvisar jaja🤣

Seguro que me sorprende. 🤩
