America is the largest English speaking country. I love the Amercian cinema because the movies show us the America as a place where you can live in a giant apartment in a sky scraper or a mansion in the hills while being middle class.
In the Anglosphere most movies are made in the America, and because of the wars, American movies are basically part of western culture and then after the internet and the shrinking of our world they’ve become part of our shared global culture.
It is one of the single largest country producing cinema. Though I find most of the American cinema is very LA or NY specific. But I may be wrong.

Nerve is the film that exposes the nature of social media via a sort of online truth-or-dare game in which “watchers” set dares for “players,” who compete for online fame and cash prizes.
These days the subject of social media is becoming quite an important and there are couple of movies which are highlighting the problems of the relationships and the games played online.
I guess the best movie of all time is "Shawshank Redemption". Story of banker who is jailed for murder starts laundering money from jail. This is still the top rated movie in IMDB
Hollywood made a too good work at making so much movies that you can see only them.
Bollywood makes almost the same but their movies are mostly watched in India and I'm sure there is less American movie there.
Netflix are changing a little that trying to make movies in more countries. They are making a lot of Korean movies and series recently. Almost multiplying their industry by 10 in few years !
In Europe they are also working a lot. Especially in France but we already have a big industry here. Even in Germany or northern countries they are working a lot, I hope they will continue to make something else than only America. For now Disney+, Apple Tv+ and Prime Video are still focused way more in America for movies. !PIZZA

The Godfather Series, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Batman Series are My Personal Favourites. Toy Story and Lion King Series made childhood great. !PIZZA
It's all about Hollywood Movies. The world is revolving around America and the first movie I remember watching was Psycho.
American film industry dominates global cinema for the same reason USA dominates the world's economy and politics. USA was more or less spared from two world wars in 20th Century allowing Hollywood to thrive while other big cinema industries declined. By 1950 no other cinema industry in the world could match Hollywood's financial resources, technology and pool of talents. Italian cinema came close in 1950s, but declined in 1970s.
