Великден - Възкресение Христово
В християнската религия на Възкресение Христово (Великден) се чества възкръсването на Иисус Христос. То е на третия ден, след като Христос е разпънат на кръста и погребан.
Подготовката за честването му започва седмицата преди Великден, наричана е Страстна седмица. Празнува се 6 дни. Вечерта преди полунощ в събота се отслужва тържествено богослужение.
Easter - Resurrection of Christ
In the Christian religion, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is celebrated on Resurrection of Christ (Easter). It is the third day after Christ is crucified and buried.
Preparations for its celebration begin the week before Easter, it is called Easter Week. It is celebrated for 6 days. A solemn service is celebrated the evening before midnight on Saturday.
Страстната седмица (наречена още Седмицата на страданията) е последната седмица от живота на Иисус Христос преди да бъде разпънат на кръст. Започва с тържественото Му влизане в Йерусалим и завършва с Неговото Възкресение.
Всеки ден от тази седмица се нарича велик – Велики понеделник, Велики вторник и така нататък. Тя е последната седмица на Великия пост и на всеки един ден от нея се извършват специални църковни служби. Тази седмица завършва с Великден.
Holy Week (also called Passion Week) is the last week of Jesus Christ's life before he was crucified. It begins with His solemn entry into Jerusalem and ends with His Resurrection.
Each day of this week is called Holy Monday, Holy Tuesday, and so on. It is the last week of Lent, and special church services are held on each day of Lent. This week ends with Easter.
Великденската служба започва в събота вечер и след приемане на благодатния огън от свещеника се излиза от храма, бият камбаните и точно в полунощ се възгласява Великденския поздрав „Христос воскресе“ и се отговаря „Воистину воскресе“.
Великденските символи са главно:
- Боядисване на яйца
- правене на козунаци
The Easter service begins on Saturday evening and after receiving the blessed fire from the priest, the bells are rung and the Easter greeting "Christ is risen" is proclaimed and "Voistinu risen" is answered at exactly midnight.

В България по традиция яйцата се боядисват на Велики Четвъртък или Велика Събота, като броят им зависи от членовете на семейството.
Първото се оцветява винаги в червено от най-възрастната жена. Докато то е още топло и прясно боядисано, тя рисува кръстен знак на челата на децата, за да бъдат здрави.
Първото боядисано червено яйце се слага пред домашната икона, за да пази дома. Яйце се дарява и на всеки гост, прекрачил прага.
Обредните хлябове са неотменна част от традициите на Великден. Обикновено се правят в кръгла форма и се украсяват с плетеници, като в средата им се слага червено яйце. В България по традиция се замесват в четвъртъка преди Великден.
Bulgarian customs
In Bulgaria, eggs are traditionally dyed on Maundy Thursday or Holy Saturday, the number depending on the family members.
The first one is always dyed red by the oldest woman. While it is still warm and freshly dyed, she paints a baptismal sign on the children's foreheads to keep them healthy.
The first dyed red egg is placed in front of the household icon to guard the home. An egg is also given to each guest who crosses the threshold.
Ritual breads are an integral part of Easter traditions. They are usually made in a round shape and decorated with braids, with a red egg in the middle. In Bulgaria they are traditionally kneaded on the Thursday before Easter.
На трапезата на Великден на много места задължително присъства агнешкото месо - като жертвопринушение.

Wow, i love the way those eggs were dyed.. Will they be later eaten?... Surprised that animals are still being sacrificed as offering, I thought all that wasn't needed since the death and rise of jesus christ.
Yes!-the eggs will be sacrificed during the days of the feast.I agree with you that it is not right to have sacrifice,but it is done partially Not in the whole country.
