Ethnocentrism, the conviction that one's own culture reigns supreme, persists across the globe. Anthropologists unanimously acknowledge its existence in every culture, where practices are deemed superior to those of others. While cultural ethnocentrism may foster unity among like-minded individuals, its repercussions, if unchecked, can corrode the very fabric of society.
In Ghana, the specter of ethnocentrism manifests in the denial of job opportunities to highly skilled individuals based on ethnic affiliations. Marriages crumble beneath the weight of cultural prejudices, and societies resist embracing new lifestyles from other cultures, perceiving them as inferior. Ethnocentrism blinds societies to the flaws within their own cultures, hindering societal growth.
Today, Ghana's societal landscape is marked by division along ethnic lines, exacerbating porousness and disunity. The Fulani pastoralists, for instance, often find themselves relegated to a third-class status. Ethnocentric remarks and tribal bigotry have become the unsettling norm.

STOPEthnocentrism is really just small-scale racism against people of a similar decent. I'm very disappointed at how despite the age of civilization we find ourselves today, Ghanaians still hold on to it.
