Hello beautiful people!

@kemmyb here 👋

Welcome to the New Cross Culture's Daily Curation where we bring you some amazing posts from members across communities of different cultures, focusing on but not limited to bilingual posts.

The Cross Culture community, was created by @whatamidoing.

It is a community that supports authors who make posts that share the realities of different cultures first hand, as well as different perspectives and experiences. We look for ways in which cultures can become crosscrossed and enlightening while going beyond stereotypes associated with certain culture.

The authors whose articles have been chosen for this week are all writing content of high quality, which focus on the various topics:

  • All bilingual posts
  • Posts in regional communities or tags
  • Posts related to language or culture
  • Posts in our cross culture community

Cross Culture's daily bulletin aims to bring to light all authors whose articles would otherwise remain unnoticed and lost in the platform, therefore we tend to reward authors who create quality posts, giving them a fair chance to establish themselves on the platform.

Howbeit, that's only the half of it!!!

After careful selections, our curators which come from diverse cultures will single out the most outstanding articles among all those curated to create a weekly shout out to the authors from the Top posts of the week.

📌Therefore, here are this week's awesome authors and their posts:

The Royal Library of Ashurbanipal, also called as the "Nitta" ("The treasury of the gods") was a compilation of more than thirty thousand clay tablets and other documents containing ancient texts from the seventh century BC, featuring texts in many different languages. Some of its important collections included the epic of Gilgamesh, composed probably in ancient Iran. The library is considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The main sections of the library are: a treasury, a medicinal store, a library, a store for writing materials, and a museum. The library was managed by the King, who appointed an accountant, a scribe, and several attendants. The chief scribe, called nasi (scribe) worked on the royal library. Other scribes were Xuthos and Chemosh.

The bush baby is a myth used to scare school students into minding their business and staying indoors at night. The bush babies apparently sounds like a normal baby or a toddler crying, sometimes the kid will call for help, and when the good Samaritan goes outside to help the little one he or she disappears, never to be seen again. Well that’s one part of a story but I know of another. This was told to me by my uncle in Kogi State. Here he narrated how my grandfather came in contact with a bush baby in a forest. He said it looks like a baby with white hair covered all through its body. Feet faced backwards and always carrying a mat. My uncle said one of the ways to distract a bush baby is by pouring a lot of sands on the floor saying that that the bush baby won’t be able to resist counting the sand down to the last.

The Arabic for "Yes" is "نعم." (Pronounced "Na'am.") It can be used in all ways the English "yes" is used it. When used to answer a question, it conveys approval, affirmation, or agreement. The Arabic equivalent for "No" is "لا" ...It conveys disagreement or negation. It's simply pronounced "Laa." Locally, in the western parts of Libya, we show agreement & disagreement in various ways different than the Standard Arabic. While we simply use the same "لا" for no. The most common way to say "yes" is "إيه" which is actually pronounced "Eih" instead of "نعم."
