This community is no doubt an opportunity to learn about people from far and wide. It is also an opportunity to clear misunderstanding and be closer. Culture is endless. It consists of each single unit of life. How we eat, talk, greet, sleep, so on and so forth.
Some days ago I was thinking I read stories here whereprom night is a normal cultural aspect but in my culture it is not acceptable by the majority. The literature helps us understand how the people look at the things in a particular culture and thus this community is specifically benefiting in this regard.

Right? I'd love to hear more about situations like that from other culture, in detail. Prom night is not acceptable there? Not just unfamiliar but unacceptable? Which part of it is unacceptable?

Every part of prom night is unacceptable here. It is like people of opposite genders (who have no relationship with eachother) being together for a night function. It is not seen as a socially acceptable act. Moreover, it is likely to bring questions on the character of people especially women.
P.S. It may be happening among some very upper class families with liberal social circle but they would hardly form 1% of our society.
