These days, we’re once again enjoying the jackfruit season in our country. Today, I received a piece of jackfruit from a kind neighbor near my home. Inspired by this gift, I decided to prepare it in a unique way and share it with you. Jackfruit holds a special place in our culinary culture, used both as a staple food and as a fruit. It's also incredibly popular among vegetarians worldwide. For this recipe, I used well-ripened jackfruit, perfect for crafting a dish full of flavor. Jackfruit is a powerhouse of nutrition. Packed with vitamins A and C, dietary fiber, and antioxidants, it boosts immunity, aids digestion, and contributes to overall well-being. The dish I’ve prepared is a delicious addition to the table, resembling a spicy and flavorful deviled dish. Let’s dive into the steps to prepare this delightful recipe together!
Materials Used.
About 10 pieces of well-ripened, seedless, cleaned jackfruit flesh.
A chopped tomato.
A chopped onion.
Two chopped green chilli pods.
Curry leaves.
3 cloves of chopped garlic.
Salt as needed.
2 Teaspoon of crushed chili powder.
2 teaspoon of Soy sauce.
2 Tablespoon of coconut oil.
1 Teaspoon of Mustard Seeds.
The cooking process as follows.
Take the cleaned jackfruit pieces and cut them into small squares. Add about 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the jackfruit pieces. Mix everything well to ensure the salt is evenly distributed.
Prepare a steamer and bring the water to a boil. Place the salted jackfruit pieces into the steamer. Steam the jackfruit for about 7–10 minutes until it softens slightly but still holds its shape.
Take a pan and place it on medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and let it heat until it turns slightly hot. Once the oil is ready, add the mustard seeds and allow them to splutter. Next, add the following ingredients to the pan: Green chilies, Curry leaves, Chopped garlic, Stir the mixture gently until the aroma of the spices starts to release. Then, add chopped onions and a pinch of salt to the pan. Mix everything thoroughly and sauté until the onions turn soft and translucent.
Next, add pieces of chilli powder and tomatoes to it and mix well again. Add the boiled jackfruit pieces and soy sauce to it and fry for about 3 minutes and remove from the stove.
So, by preparing this flavorful and spicy jackfruit fry, you not only treat your taste buds but also contribute to your family's health and happiness.
