Wishing You All a Very Good Day, My Dear Friends! How are you all doing? Today, I am delighted to share a mouthwatering recipe with you. This is a completely new experience for me, and I prepared it following a traditional Sri Lankan culinary method. This recipe is so simple that you can make it with just one cup of idiyappam flour, enough to serve the whole family. Additionally, the inclusion of finely chopped shallots and curry leaves enhances both the flavor and the nutritional value of this snack. The best part? You can prepare it in just about 10 minutes! So, let’s dive right in and see how to make this delicious dish.
Materials Used.
String hoppers flour 150g.
1 Cup of coconut milk.
4-5 cloves of garlic
1 Onions.
Curry leaves.
Salt to taste.
Coconut oil 250ml.
1 Teaspoon of chili powder.
1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder.
String hoppers maker.
The cooking process as follows.
Let’s Get Ready to Prepare This Dish! First, separate the curry leaves from their stems and set them aside. Then, finely chop the shallots and onions to prepare them for the recipe.
Next take a grinding stone (wangediya) or blender and add the curry leaves, shallots, salt, chili powder, and turmeric powder. Grind the mixture well until it forms a smooth paste. Afterward, add 4 tablespoons of coconut milk and blend or grind again thoroughly to create a fine, creamy paste.
Add the remaining coconut milk to the prepared mixture and mix thoroughly to ensure a smooth consistency. Using a fine strainer, carefully strain the mixture to remove any solid residues, ensuring a refined, silky texture. Follow the method illustrated below.
Next take a bowl and add the hopper flour to it. Sprinkle in a pinch of salt for taste and mix well. Gradually pour in the coconut milk mixture, prepared earlier, while stirring continuously. Combine until the ingredients form a smooth batter with the consistency of a thick paste.
Final Steps place a pan on medium heat and add some coconut oil to it. While the oil heats up, prepare a string hopper maker by filling it with the prepared batter. Once the oil is hot, press the batter through the string hopper maker directly into the pan in circular motions, creating thin, noodle-like patterns. Let it fry until it turns golden brown. Carefully remove the fried snack from the pan and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Your delicious and crispy snack is now ready to serve! Try This Recipe Yourself! Give this recipe a try just the way I prepared it. There’s no need to sprinkle additional salt or chili on top since we’ve already incorporated those flavors during the preparation. The result is absolutely delicious!
That’s all from me for today. Have a wonderful day, everyone! 😊
