Hello vegan friends..
Today I want to introduce a typical snack from my area, namely a delicious traditional Acehnese cake. If you want, you can try making this leughok cake recipe. Leughok cake is the name of a typical Acehnese cake. The name itself is very Acehnese, right? Leughok cake has been around since ancient times as a snack for children and adults. Most Acehnese people, such as farmers, often bring this snack as provisions when working in the fields and gardens to accompany their breaks, accompanied by coffee or tea. Besides the ingredients for making leughok are very simple and very easy to make, it does not require a lot of other ingredients. Not only that, eating this cake is also quite filling, why not, the basic ingredient used to make this cake is banana.

In general, leughok is made by wrapping it in banana leaves, its shape is almost the same as the typical Acehnese timphan that I made in the previous post. However, leughok does not use flour and coconut milk.

Actually there are two versions of making leughok, the first is leughok with grated coconut filling inside and without being coated with grated coconut on the outside. And the second is leughok without filling inside and only coated with grated coconut on the outside.

This time I will make leughok coated with grated coconut on the outside, I use a mold to print when steaming. Because I'm a little lazy to look for banana leaves again. Hehe. Okay friends, let's prepare the ingredients.

Ingredients Needed and Their Measurements:

  • 1 comb of ripe kepok bananas
  • 150 grams of Beureune sage / sago flour
  • 1/2 grated coconut
  • 1/2 tsp salt

How To Make:

First: peel all the bananas. Mash the bananas using a glass or you can also use clean hands until soft.

Tips: use bananas that are too ripe because they will make the leughok softer and very sweet. While underripe bananas will make the texture of the leughok cake rougher.

Second: mix the mashed bananas with beureune sage / sago flour and salt. Stir well

Third: put banana leaves in the mold. Then put the dough into the mold until finished and then flatten it. Pour grated coconut on top. Flatten

Fourth: prepare a steamer. (Preheat the steamer first, until it steams a lot) I use a frying pan to steam, you can use a steamer. Steam the cake for 25 minutes or until cooked. Let it cool first, then remove the cake from the mold.

To serve, remove the cake from the mold, cut the cake into pieces according to taste, place the cake on a serving plate and it is ready to be eaten with your family.

Although made from very simple ingredients, this leughok cake is rich in flavor. The combination of the natural sweetness of bananas, the savory taste of grated coconut and a little salty makes leughok cake so unique.

This snack is not only delicious, but also has a long-lasting and filling nature.

We have such bananas here, we call it native/local bananas, they are healthier with less sugar. Nice recipe 👌

Thankyou very much 😊
