Cooking Wild Spinach That I Harvest From My Garden

The real gifts from nature to help you survive are wild edible plants to be cooked into food.

There are various kinds of wild edible plants in our respective areas which can be found without a price. It's purely a gift from nature. We can't ask them to come at all. Just like a surprise.

I love wild mushrooms, more and more. But now I can no longer find them because the forest land has been turned into human habitation. So, I need another wild plant.

Thanks, God. There is still one other type of wild plant that I can find around me. In fact, there are so many of them and they easily breed into wild colonies.

One type of wild edible plant that I can easily find in the area where I live is wild spinach. Wild spinach even grows like a craze with its seeds that are easily spread by the wind and then grow to reproduce the plant.

I'll take you guys to see me harvest wild spinach, then cook wild spinach together with vermicelli noodles. Stay tuned!

Harvesting Wild Spinach

2523F3DD-84EE-48CD-93EC-EC7AD00265DE.jpeg

My garden hasn't been completely clean after I left traveling to another city. Indeed, I had grown water spinach (kangkung) as a start. But unexpectedly, there was a wild spinach that grew crazily and even partially covered my water spinach plants.

But I'm actually happy. Wild spinach helps me meet my daily vegetable requirements. So, this time I decided to harvest wild spinach to cook with vermicelli noodles.

Well, wild spinach has bigger leaves than the types of spinach that are usually sold in our local market. But actually the taste is stronger and the texture of the sticks is more chewy.

F9B4A5F1-8A4F-418B-8283-599F163EF949.jpeg

To be honest, I prefer the wild type of spinach compared to the type of spinach that is grown and sold in the market.

Of course, those that grew wild would be more natural than those grown by human hands. How nature is stronger than man himself. Agree, right?

I harvest wild spinach with great zeal. I plucked the stem of the leaf. Oh, their shape is so beautiful. Thank you, God and the universe!

I harvested enough to cook this time. Wild spinach leaves wilt easily. So it's better to harvest them only when you really want to cook them to keep them fresh.

After harvesting wild spinach, I headed for the kitchen. Well, my kitchen is darker. So, their pictures will have higher contrast compared to my pictures taken in the garden.

I Will combaine the spinach with Vermicelli. Really easy to make it, I promise.

I served wild spinach vermicelli with spicy chili sauce, also spinach balls and sprinkled with sesame seeds.

I arrange them on their favorite serving plate. I really like this result. Wild spinach but they are like a blessing sent by god for me. Beautiful, delicious, and for free! How blessed!

Well, you don't need to use wild spinach like the one I found in my garden. If you want to make this recipe. Just use the type of spinach you have at home. Or, you can replace it with your favorite type of green vegetables.

Good afternoon for you @jlufer
Always be happy to recieve gift from nature 😊

Spinach is one of the most common ed8ble plants I guess around the world, at least I knew untill I shifted back to my village, where I get to know of many other wild plants , which people are eating and now I have started to...your plate looks delicious. We use a simple cooking where it was vapoured and then water were dried by frying in utensils, without any oil. Plants and rice are my go to food during afternoon

That's really great you are not using oil. But olive oil is healthy too even so expensive 😅

I loved your garden, how nice that you can harvest spinach, we also harvest spinach it is greener than what we get at the market. Good simple and fresh food. Greetings

Thank you! I love to Harvest them, especially they are growing wild

You’re welcome

It tastes very good to eat.

And healthy for sure

it looks like the same food we eat here, the noodles we call sotanghon, and we also put some spinach but no tomatoes cuz we don't have tomatoes here hahaha, then we add canned sardines. Anyway nice plating and it's a picture-perfect Anggerkl 😉

We have similar dish with sardenis too 😊

Indeed. So blessed 😊
Have a great day for you

Have a great weekend there. Take care.

Yeah, this plant also grows a lot on the streetsides in my neighborhood. I'd like to share u a fun fact, wild spinach is also called spiny amaranth. Besides it tastes as delicious as spinach, but this wild spinach is more healthy than ordinary spinach! Because it contains more calcium, carbohydrates, and many vitamins. I once made a post about this a long time ago.

Oh, and thanks a bunch for sharing this recipe miss @anggreklestari .
I think i should try this at home :D

Omgggg! I didn't know that water spinach could be best paired with noodlew, not until I saw this post of yours. @anggreklestari , you have been incredibly talented in cooking.😊

Is that edible? It seems that its an ordinary grass that we found in the field.

Yes, edible. But you can send me the photo first to make sure.

I eat them since my childhood

its look like japchae from korean food 😍

They use same "bihun" type?

!LOL

What's green and sits in the corner?

The option of noodles with spinach is very tasty, it is a privilege that you have them cultivated and you can cook recipes whenever you want. I have to go to the supermarket to buy them and sometimes they are a bit wilted. Cheers.
