A group of Muslim men in a mosque violating lockdown orders beat up a female officer that approached to arrest them. The mosque in Orangi has been known for religious extremism and not following orders to stay home to prevent the spread of coronavirus. People are still continuing to worship in large groups.

Hello there! Thank you so much for dropping by my post. It means so much to us minnows who are just new in this platform.

Yes, as people feel their rights getting suppressed, the conflict and tension surely arise. We just have to follow what we know what's best for us and our family around us who needs to be alive and keep it that way for a long time.

Awesome post indeed.

I hope they do prosecute someone for this. In the current pandemic you would think religious groups would be trying to support people, but some will try to show their strength by defying the authorities. As you say, all people matter and the focus should be on saving lives. By the time irony strikes by making some of them ill the virus will have spread further.

From everything the lady described, I thinks it's basically unlawful that the moslems are trying to beat up Police for doing the job of protecting the populace, in my opinion religion is a sentiment we must avoid in the fight of covid-19 and protecting the human race at large. Those people are wrong for beating up the Police. Social gathering increases the chances of spreading the virus. Islamic or Christian or Hindu prayer should remain banned for now and that's the right thing to do.

The funny thing that praying per se is not being banned; only the congregation of multitudes to do the praying. All religions encourage their followers to pray in one way or another and we know that whe it works in their best interests, they can make adjustments to fulfill their religious duties while responding to their social/real-world demands.

Lawbreakers, plain and simple. Compounded by the assault on a police officer. There should absolutely be an arrest here.

Why did they beat the police when they can very well follow the prayer live on YouTube, the Internet ... It is inadmissible! Forties may be tough, but it's the same for everyone. it's up to us to respect quarantine to get out of it faster.

I understand your point, Armin, about saving or trying to protect every person, even the stupid/stubborn/ignorant ones; that is idealistic. The truth is, some people cannot be saved from themselves, and on top of that they usually represent a threat for others. At some point they have to be left to their own devices, even if that means that innocent people will fall with them.

I think that authorities must do what is right, enforce the law, especially if their violation of the law put other lives at risk. What is not clear in the report is how many other officers were accompanying the attacked female police. Were there more women? how many men? I think it was stupid for a reduced force to try to corral a bunch of agressive fundamentalists (asuming the report is accurate). I wonder what the news would have been had a bunch of agressive male police officers beat up the religious crowd.

I think that beneath this resistance to authority there is an underlying desire to subordinate the laws of men to the laws of god; to impose Church over State.

Well, who am I to judge, so am leaving them for God. But in truth relegius extremist are lot of problem in the world today, they promote injustice in the highest order.

It's always my pleasure to help this republic grow, I already feel a part of it. Thanks a lot @atheistrepublic. I will follow the links above to do the needful
